Making my way through Day of the Master. OMG. Is this awesome or what? And I love that cliffhanger. This is fun, exciting, original and has some really great twists.

So after I finished the excellent Ravenous series, I decided on something a bit more out of left field. Veeery left field. I decided to try „Slipback“. Just to see if it really is as bad as everybody says. Oh my. I really have to say my admiration for Colin grows even more when I listen to this. The patience, endurance and willingness to battle though stories such as this is remarkable. I can emphasize when Colin says if he ever meets Eric Saward again, he will punch him in the face. Heck, Colin, I offer to hold the man still for you.
I got the iTunes copy of the release and I have to say the sound quality is rather poor. Being used to BF, this is pathetic. This sounds like an old copy of a copy of an old spoiled cassette tape. Probably is. It is so bad I did NOT recognize Colin’s voice at first! Yes, he has aged since then but this is just uncanny. I only recognize the voice when he puts emotion into it and screams, growls or shouts. And I love Colin and pride myself in my voice recognition abilities! However, equally surprising, Nicola‘s voice has not changed at all. She sounds exactly as she does on recent BF releases.
Well, at least I have now found the source of the idea of presenting the Doctor as a useless drunkard. Still think it is a terrible idea. Yeah, by all means let him get drunk like he does in Benny‘s new adventures or like in the Wormery. But at least in these stories, he never comes across as an idiot, quite the opposite in fact. One of the reasons I dislike Exile so much. It is insulting to the character.

It was kind of nice to have an extra audio with the Sixth Doctor and Peri, and I thought Colin and Nicola did a fantastic job making the story fun in spite of itself. I got it on Audible and the sound quality didn't seem too bad but the Melody Malone audio and a couple of the Torchwood audios I got from Audible had sound quality so poor they were literally painful to listen to.

Oh, I totally agree with you on Colin‘s and Nicola‘s performances. These two could read the telephone book and make it exciting. It is just everything else that is... painful.

Ravenous 4 : Day of the Master
Masterful(l) finale from John Dorney, perfect way to end a great series and did everything I hoped it would. (And of course, a lot more too!)

Under Odin's Eye
I'm surprised that this was made as a Short Trip, because it feels like a main range title. Not just with the story, which reminded me of Kerblam!, but in the way it was told, by introducing the guest cast before the Doctor. Characterization was spot on. It feels authentic and I could absolutely imagine it as a televised story. Appreciated the Doctor's name dropping at the end.

I added a re-listen to The Sontarans from the Early Adventures to my Sontaran festival - I had so many interruptions it took two days to finish it but it says something for the quality of the story that I greatly enjoyed it anyway. Found a couple of quiet hours at different parts of the day today to listen to Interstitial/Feast of Fear, which I thought were both very good stories. No complaints except I sort of wish they had both been two hour stories, I think both stories were worthy of that.

Haven’t got the two latest yet but it’s nice to hear that someone thinks they should have been longer, most complaints are the opposite.🤪

This has been the first adventure I have listened to Of the Doctor and Donna that I have enjoyed outright. The chemistry is right on the nail. The adventure is fun and exciting and I can imagine it fitting completely into the Tv show of the period.

Started on Interstitial/ Feast of fear. Made it halfway though Interstitial. This is very enjoyable. It is not a revelation, but everybody gets some great lines and although the story is nothing new, it works fine.

Creatures of Beauty
Bleak, unrelenting, outstanding. Gripping from start to finish, brilliantly performed and produced; a masterpiece by Nick Briggs.
