The Third Doctor Adventures - Primord.
Amid a slew of rolling r's, this terrific and strangely heart-warming series continues with Mr Dorney's really strong story. I'm not usually madly keen on sequels unless there is something new to say, and here there definitely is. It's all creepy and great fun, and highly in-keeping with stoical style of early 1970's television. The clipped tones of the new Brig and the new L:iz join forces with the new Third Doctor and the convincing recreation of the UNIT 'family' is incredibly good. Of course, the glue that holds it all together and convinces 'recast sceptics' like myself of their worth, is Katy Manning, still magnificent as Jo.
The only concern I have is that as yet, I don't believe any further box-sets have yet been announced.
Oh there will be more....

Finished Feast of Fear. This was nice. Nice little entertaining story, however, it is nothing groundbreaking, good average I would say. The actors seem to have had a lot of fun, going by the extras, and some of that positive energy you can hear.

Mission to Magnus
Oh my marshminnows that was fairly awful! Well produced by BF and (mostly) well performed, but I think there were about five plot strands, some of which went nowhere, some of which were impossible and one of which ended a very dated 'gender war' story in a toe-curling "revelation" of 'what men want' to the shocked ears of the women of Magnus. The story seemed to change direction completely around half-time {Spoiler} as abruptly as a planet being (utterly impossibly) shoved out and in of its orbit by explosives! but that was a good thing because Ice Warriors are always good value even when their "plan" is nonsense.
Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant were excellent and back to the 80s again in every syllable, so authentic to hear. And for me the highlight (though he was sadly underused, lost in those competing and overlapping plots) was hearing Nabil Shaban brilliant as always, with Sil's wonderfully mundane "evil profit" scheme to {Spoiler} corner the market in 'winter woolies'
So for those bits at least, Morgo be praised!

Classic Doc/New Monsters-Judoon In Chains-Simon Barnard/Paul Morris
This seems a lot more fitting to the Classic era than the Davison/Angels story that i just listened to.

I think it is the best story of the set. It would have been easy to make the Judoon joke monsters as they are kind of on TV, but I was surprised how serious and character driven this was.
Plus of course Colin.

I at least plan on continuing to listen to the Paternoster Gang. Fell asleep on the first story last night. Let's see if I have a bit more staying power tonight.

Am absolutely knackered too and am planning nothing this weekend but chilling out and recharging...with lots of listening so next up is CC 5.10-Liz Shaw-THe Sentinels Of The New Dawn-Paul Finch. This is interesting as Colin Bakers Leviathan was one of my favourites of The Lost Stories Range and this has its connections to that story. The Liz Shaw Companion Chronicles actually have held my interest when listening to them recently and Now that her daughter is playing her again I hope we get stories that are interesting in the Third Doctor Adventures especially with her and Jo Grant joining forces.

8DA-Doom Coalition 4-Ship In A Bottle/Songs Of Love-John Dorney.Matt FittonLooking for adventure so I didn’t have to look far. Relistens are great One of mal favorites. Fantastic character work. And the proof that you do not need big expensive casts to make a story work. If the following series is along these lines, I am certainly on board. And happy.

They probably are a BIG EXPENSIVE CAST- but yes SHIP IN A BOTTLE is a tight adventurous action packed adventure and this is a whole set of stories that gel in a good exciting way.Why oh Why can’t the TV show get these guys in as writers and put Doctor Who back as a must see show.SONGS OF LOVE works so well with River too, just the right amount of her.

As for why... well, like with everything, it is a matter of taste. A lot of people at the Convention absolutely adored series 11. There were even two boys (one with a beard) cosplaying Jodie ( there were also many girls cosplaying as the male Doctors including a War Doctor with a false beard, to even out the odds). So, opposite what parts of the fandom think, the new direction is actually accepted and beloved by a good proportion of viewers. I think as long as the rating do not plummet completely when the next series starts, they won‘t change a winning team. Thank god for BF carrying on the torch for us with a slightly different taste then.

I would have totally accepted a NEW SHOW with a FEMALE TIMELADY totally would have followed it.Her own TARDIS and a new History. Well as you say I have BF 😉

Cc-5.02 -Echoes Of Grey-John Dorney-Zoe
I only bought this CD recently but really enjoyed it on the first listen lot of great ideas and a wee Twist on the Title. The Monster(The Achromatics) was interesting an of interest being from a medical background. So a relisten to find all the things I may have missed first time around so good to have a FREE weekend-Phone OFF

CD/NW -Vol2-Night Of The Vashta Nerada-John Dorney(Tom Baker as Doctor)
This is the Doctor slightly dark, slightly edgy, alien the kind of Doctor encountered in Seeds of Doom.I like when Tom Baker is written this way.Sio glad i finally succumbed to the set, true i would have bought this episode if it had not been part of a set. They seem to like the fun/frolic Tom for most part in the 4DA but this is the slightly callous Doctor.Given the right script Tom still delivers. Its great he is the first to encounter the Vashta as it sits so well with Gothic Tom,travelling alone?Post Sarah ?Post Leela?
I will skip the next two stories for a minute to see how MCGann holds up against these creatures

CD/NM-Day of The Vashta Nerada-Matt Fitton (Paul McGann as Doc)
Slight tinge of sadness ,this is probably the last for me of New material from Jacqueline Pearce. If anyone was going to rule the Universe in style it was Jacqueline.
