Also joins in on the community Warzone listening. From reading the blurb did not expect too much. However, turned out quite good. Great cliffhanger.

On the train back to London so thought I'd give 'Minuet in Hell' another go after some of the recent chat about it. Edit: I quite enjoyed it but what do I know, I said the same about Winter for the Adept recently. Minuet gets a 5 out of 10. Not a fan of this one, sorry. Waste of Nicholas Courtney and just found it a bit shouty and dreary. The name of the state still makes me laugh. I finished it and I do applaud Briggs for trying something different, but thought it was a bit of a poor end to an okish First Eighth Doctor Season. Was hard listening to this after, what I think, is an excellent Stones of Venice. As noted above, Nick Briggs didn't write Minuet in Hell.

Eeek! I've got Warzone/ Conversion, The Home Guard, and Daughter of the Gods all vying for my attention at the same time! I don't know which one to do first (nor which second or third...). I think I might have to go with release order, but that means I won't start Daughter of the Gods for another four days... On second thoughts, I think I might be doing some unprecedented binge-listening over the next couple of days

Last night I had chronic toothache and couldn't sleep, so put 'Medicinal Purposes' on at 3am to try and take my mind off things.
It probably made things worse and was again switched off after half an hour or so. Another I've never finished, and probably wont be rushing back to to try.
Today I'm going for the 3 pints remedy to see if that helps.

Nekromanteia, the taboo and do-not-listen audio.
Yes, I'm only on part 1 but so far the most annoying things about it is the muddled voices that blend in a bit too much with the (quite good) atmospherics, the mumbling Captain Harlan who is hard to make out, and the general feeling of 'I wonder what is happening?'
Still, it is a bit weird which I don't mind and there is some bloke on a covert mission which is yet to be revealed.
At least I haven't been tempted to throw it out of the window like The Dark Flame.
Don't see what all the fuss is about, but of course I haven't reached the 'shocking' bits yet. Are they really? Time will tell.

Will be listening to "Conversion" tonight. Tomorrow I will have a 5h train journey to Berlin (back Saturday night) for a conference, and have uploaded the Early Adventures and Jago and Litefoot Volume 9 and 10, plus UNIT Cyber Reality for travelling entertainment. Let's see how much I will be able to listen to... just in case, I also will bring the Target Storybook along, too, so I can do some reading if I prefer that... So I definitely won't run out of entertainment any time soon.

Wow. Just wanted to log back in to say I am blown away with "Conversion". Love Davison's performance. This was, for me, the most engaging 5th Doctor story since Time in Office (which is big praise since I am not a fan of the 5th Doctor usually). I loved the emotionally challenged, desperate, vulnerable and enraged 5th Doctor. Can't wait to see how this continues.

Today I'm going for the 3 pints remedy to see if that helps. I hesitate to make recommendations but I had years of problems with my teeth and often resorted to just a tiny bit of clove oil on a wet cotton swab gently dabbed on the offending teeth. I think it's essentially the same thing that's in a number of over-the-counter toothache remedies (at least in the states) only the oil generally worked much better, and worked when the toothache products wouldn't. Discovered it one day when I found it in among the toothache remedies at a quaint little pharmacy and wondered what it was doing there. One has to be careful not to burn their tongue or their lips with the stuff, it's pretty spicy, but I don't know how many times it was a lifesaver. Regarding "Medicinal Purposes" it's one I rather like. It's never disappointed me, but I think anything and everything would try to be a disappointment if I had a toothache. Might be worth finishing some time when you feel better and I hope you do soon.

Good timing Barnabaslives, just woke up at 11:30pm with a throbbing face. 4 painkillers and half hour later, I'm good again. I've been looking for clove oil but alas no success. 2pm on Friday the tooth is coming out which will be fun (not). Ive just put on 'Return of the Rocket Men' to hopefully put me back to sleep for a 3 or 4 hours before the next wave of discomfort..

What am I listening to today? Not enough, that's for sure. Listened to about the first 20 minutes of the new Monthly Adventure yesterday but so totally distracted I promptly forgot even bit of it along with the title, can you believe that? I do know I was enjoying it though, it was really good.
Also today I at least managed to listen to the first part of The Home Guard, and that was really good too - very intriguing - and I even thought Dreyfus was doing a pretty job this time around, which for me is a first.

Tuesday I listened to the 5, Nyssa, Tegan & Marc trilogy. Tartarus & Warzone/Conversion were great. Interstitial/Feast of Fear was decent enough, I guess? Not a favourite release but I did enjoy it enough...
Yesterday 'The Daughter Of The Gods', which was good (I'm a little hesitant to get 'The Home Guard').
'Currently downloading 'The Ultimate Evil' to listen to in/around London this afternoon (I had planned on getting 'Nightmare Country' as well, but didn't really have the money).

I think I too was underwhelmed by the premise of Pier Pressure the first couple of listens, but I thought number13 did a wonderful job awhile back of explaining why it is of genuine historical interest, which greatly improved my opinion of it. Did I? Oh good... I mean yes of course I did a wonderful job.
*Pretends to have a clue, hasn't, tries to remember, doesn't, starts searching own posts...*
It's more than a bit sad when you find one of your own old posts quite interesting but I'd forgotten most of that now so I did!

Need a time-out from Nekromanteia, where did that cat come from? Really not sure what was going on and cant really be arsed to rectify that.
On to SJS and Test of Nerve.
