You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Although I am on a BF break during my commute, I am still listening while out walking. Today I am on Masters of Earth - an overlooked gem IMHO. Very Terry Nation.

I'm still on a mission to try and get through the lower-rated echelons of the MR, so tonight it is the mystery of the non-invasion and the inevitable Renaissance of the Daleks.

āPrison in Spaceā Certainly not a piece that would be made today. In fact, Iām surprised Big Finish even decided to adapt this piece in the first place. Personally, I think itās the closest thing we have to a comedy piece for the Second Doctor and when you look at the story from that angle it works rather well. Otherwise, it is completely inconsequential and one you could quite happily skip in the Lost Stories range.
Just out of curiosity, did anyone find this story offensive upon listening to it?

Not really, you have to accept that it was a product of its time. Luckily, it would be thrown out now.

I remember being both bored and confused. Good luck! āPrison in Spaceā Certainly not a piece that would be made today. No, I found it rather amusing in its oddness. Not something I'd listen to more than once or twice, but a fun curiosity nonetheless.

Finished Dark Universe. Welllll.... let us just say this was not exactly what I had expected. Still fun, though. Is it a MUST LISTEN ?? I wrote a looong critique in the relevant thread, but to make it short- no. Not really.
Entertaining, fun, not bad, but not the event that was promised and compared to the 8th Doctor box sets disappointing.
Great performances, though.

Well I have to say....that was pretty good! Yes, there are bits that make no sense (a la Floyd and his allegiances) but as this is a time and space free-for-all maybe that was the point. Slightly dodgy accents? I've heard worse, so bring it on. With a good pair of headphones this sounded excellent and held my attention throughout. An unexpected 7 out of 10. So there.

Far from being offensive, yes it's very non-PC and broad comedy but I really enjoyed it! The script is a lot of fun, Frazer and Wendy are typically brilliant in all their characters and with their narrators' hats on (probably black, rubber hats for this one... ) and Susan Brown gives the wonderfully appalling Chairman Babs the 110% performance Madam Chairman would no doubt demand! Simon Guerrier's adaptations always bring their eras alive for me; this could only have been a Second Doctor story imo and the visual 'Pat and Frazer' comedy moments were so well described I could almost see them in action doing the 'business' they'd worked out in rehearsal! And Zoe showing off her 'Mind Robber' space karate (or whatever it's called) again, all good fun.

New monthly audio āDark Universeā. Slightly frustrated that itās more about the Eleven than I expected. And perhaps not very listener friendly for people not familiar with the Eleven.

MR 258 Conversion - gripping conclusion to the story and to a terrific trilogy. The regulars and guests on top form and George Watkins is excellent as Marc; it's been quite a journey from Cumae and that's all I'll say here!

Blake's 7 : The Liberator Chronicles 5.3 - Three Halfway through this rather delicious two handed word-play with Jacqueline Pearce and Joseph Kloska. A lot later than planned but finally finished. Oh my goodness..I can finally see why Jacqueline Pearce thought this one was one of the best Blake's 7 scripts she'd ever performed (or so I've read). A story that portrays the Supreme Commander for what she truly is - a sociopath. Kudos to Mr Goss for this classic.
