Started a re-listen to Foe from the Future. I think it is very well done and performed and better than most of the 4th Doctor adventures I have listened to so far.

Textbook Stuff-Casting the Runes and other Uncanny Tales-MR JAMES-narration by Andrew Sachsanother excellent reading of three great tales and not only that but a beautiful music suite by Howard Carter Loving this series...Two down Two more to go well worth the bundle geez they need to use that Music theme in a series-they should have Given it to Gallifrey love it That is the only one of the series I got, because I REALLY love MR James' stories. It was quite good. My kind of stuff have the other two to listen to later they are more of a night time listen. But all brilliantly executed so far

Sapphire and Steel ‘Mystery of the Missing Hour’ Great stuff. Without going into spoilers, this sort of idea is hard to pull off successfully but I thought they did a tremendous job of it. Almost makes me wish this was the finale of the S&S range as was originally planned. Especially considering I have heard less than favourable things about the third series.

Trial of the Valeyard.
Basically one big stand-off between The Doctor, Inquisitor and Valeyard (as well as an excellent turn from John Banks as The Hermit), this is excellent! {Spoiler} I am reminded of the teases of the latest television series, where the Doctor's arch enemy screams 'everything you think you know is a lie' (interesting the affirmation that every thirteenth incarnation of a Time Lord is probably mad). Back in Trial of a Time Lord days, the court-room scenes have often been slated for interrupting the flow of the various stories - but they were undeniably great in their own right, so to have more of these scenes here is terrific. More twists and turns, machinations and mischief from all sides, one after another. It's giddy stuff, and puts fascinating new layers on all the characters. I enjoyed this one heck of a lot more than I expected to enjoy what was originally a freebie. A great sense of urgency from the actors concerned. Great fun. I'm still not sure Old Sixie would ever say 'Go hang' though!

Haven’t done them all I scraped together a few from EBay but I must admit if am honest they were good but not quite as great as I thought they would be.

MR 260 Dark Universe - I came to the Dark Universe hoping for another in the current strong run of MR stories - and a top guest star (or eleven of them, depending on your view ) - and I enjoyed it very much.
Great performances and a very dark and intriguing new enemy for the Whoniverse. I somehow don't think we've seen the last of them...

Mark of a really great script.
And Tom is at the top of his game here. It does not get much better than this.
Somehow I am missing this from the other 4th Doctor adventures and that is one of the reasons I am not really into them. I found even some of the ones people keep raving about surprisingly bland.

Another listen to Doctor Who: The Comic Strip Adaptations Volume 01 Doctor Who and the Iron Legion adapted by Alan Barnes. A brilliant adaptation of the comic book that expands the story & retains the tone.

I heard this one first before the individual releases and both stories really impressed me I thought great stuff whereas a lot of toms original, single, adventures didn’t make me go wow.

I so love them both and I think it’s also that the characters are already formed since I read the original comics they now have voices instead of balloons

Foe from the Future is probably the best Tom's audio adventures have to offer. I'll third the love for Charlotte from the village. The whole thing really captures the feel of its era. I'm not a big fan of the 4DAs, either, I find they are often bland. I think part of it is the shorter length, so the ideas have to be thin or not explored as much, there's not as much time for the little quirks and details. I also think, for me, it's that the out of all the main Doctors, Four seems to get beaten with the nostalgia stick too hard and too often and can feel like rehashes. They're at their best when they do something different and unusual with them.

4DA- Vol 9-Purgatory 12 -Marc Platt
relisten to this now,I love story number two Chase the night but this one deserves the same number of relistens too.So good to have this team together again. I have good hopes for the next set too which I didn’t get with the last volumes.I think with E- space there’s less chance of using the tried and trusted foes though a rematch with vampires I wouldn’t say no I always remember the scene of Tom and Lalla together in the tower in State of Decay so close as travelling companions

More Classic Doctors New Monsters vol 2 listening for me tonight. First up (out of order) “Day of the Vashta Nerada”. And then, and I’m currently part way through it, “The Carrionite Curse”. Rather to my surprise I’m enjoying the witches one more than the piranhas of the air.

4DA- SerIes 9 Vol 1-Purgatory 12 -Marc Platt
This is a seriously great set of stories and really captures the series it was set in.The On board chess playing, the rapport between Tom and Lalla(even if recorded apart) it is there, they have both recaptured it.The angst of Young Romana trying to come to terms with her eventual return to Gallifrey.I remember, when it was being aired at the Time to being a little fanboy over Lalla and I thought she was absolutely beautiful and when that series aired and knew both she and TOM would be leaving ,I admit to a little sadness. These two stories have recaptured those elements. You can even see her in a new costume,I mean that girl had a unique fashion sense a TIME LADY trying out local culture and fashion.A Time lady absorbing another culture instead of avoidance or non interference (a joke really when you know how interfering they actually were) I would have gladly followed at the time a series of adventures with Romana in E Space at the time.It was time for her to leave- in that she had in some ways outgrown The Doctor and returning to N -Space she would have to part ways with him.In E -space she has a reason to stay.I do Hope Lalla continues in her younger incarnation for a long while with Tom and Matthew. What to say of Adric teenage indecision and knowing it all love it I knew Matthew had grown as an audio actor due to hearing him in his Dark Shadow Personalities where he really shines and since Iterations of I I know he can deliver a great’ in keeping ‘with the era performance. I can’t even remember a box set of Toms where I really thought Can’t wait for it to continue and am really anticipating the next Volume.Long May the adventures continue in E-space unlike the DIVERGENT universe. Returning to longer cliffhanging adventures has definitely benefitted these stories time to give the story breathing space.
E-space E for Exciting E for Excellent. Thanks to the writers and everyone involved.

Trying to expand my palette when it comes to radio comedy as of late, so I’ve decided to give a few episodes of ‘The Navy Lark’ a try.
