It is a terrific boxset and I am eager for more, but I can only preorder once! This saturation promotion - more than some other BF ranges combined - is making me wish for just a bit of humility on behalf of Mr Nick. Who was it said 'always leave the audience wanting more?' It was good advice.

I do wish Nick Briggs would stop ramming The Prisoner down our throats, he's over promoted this & yet covered very little on The War Doctor or Doom Coalition series?
I know you need to promote your products but give other boxsets the same attention to detail like you do with The Prisoner.

He is quick to embrace the rightly glowing reviews for The Prisoner, so I cannot believe he is unaware that people feel his is too ubiquitous.
I absolutely love what Big Finish do, and they are far more than The Nick Show. This self-promotion shows no sign of slowing. If he could just take a step back from centre stage from time to time, my perception of the company - and him - would improve hugely.

come on guys,
it's hardly a big deal....a few notes each month, which serve as a little update. I wonder how many times a month he is asked "how's things going with the prisoner?" let alone "do the Dalek voice". I think this is just a way to may be limit that and redirect them to the BF website. it may also be a trial to do the same for other ranges. So I am sticking up for Briggs with his promote, promote, promote here. I don't want less just a bit more fore everything else.
and as too Mr Briggs taking a step back from promotion, who would stand up and do it I see no other candidates from the other ranges (although I can see Jamie Anderson taking a much larger role in the future) I think 95% of the time Nick does it humbly and with good grace. It's never "BUY ME, BUY ME, BUY ME", his style is more, give it a try you might like it.

To be clear, I have no issue with Nick, or Big Finish, or self promotion. It's their obsession over The Prisoner which is doing my head in.
Yes it's only one set of notes a month. Every. Single. Month. For a year. This is a range that has one box set a year and it gets way more news moleage than it warrants already. We haven't even got any more than a rumour of volume 2 of Diary of River Song yet; Doom Coalition 2 is coming up imminently yet has had less news footage than Prisoner 2 which is almost a year away. We still know almost nothing about future Blakes 7 plans. It just seems the media strategy is keep fans in the dark unless it's the Prisoner in which case, discuss endlessly even when there is literally no news to announce.

Getting very tired of all the negativity around the promotion of the prisoner.
A bit OTT? Sure, but so what? It's hardly compulsory to read/listen to it.
ETA: by my quick count the news stories on the BF page this month (not counting release announcements) have been: DW 5, Torchwood 3, general BF (this week at BF etc) 4, B7 and Paul Darrow 2, sales 2, prisoner (incl competition) 2, steed and Mrs peel 1.
Not sure you can say that the prisoner is getting out of proportion attention.

Im firmly on the side of so what? If you don't like it don't read it.
Nick seems a thoroughly decent chap and deserves a beer or two for his tireless dedication to the many facets of Big Finish.
Well done Mr Briggs and keep up the good work.

My feelings on the matter are, for want of a better term, nuanced. I'm not being forced to read or listen to the plethora of Prisoner-plugs, but the sheer number of them has nonetheless served to dull my enthusiasm for the line. I don't find them actively annoying, but I fear that Nick is driving away potential customers with them.

Guys, The War Doctor & Doom Coalition box sets don't need any extra promotion. They are going to pretty much sell themselves. The Prisoner was and is a different kettle of fish. Let Nick take a victory lap. Launching the range was a huge risk and after all the grief & doubt thrown his way over it, I'd say he deserves it. Volume one turned out much better than I would have ever imagined. If it is just a monthly update of where it is at, is that really a big deal?

I'd be on board if this feature was used by other writers like Joseph Lister, Cavan Scott and Mark Wright, Matt Fitton etc as well as Nick Briggs to talk about what they are working on, but at this point it's another blatant bloody prisoner plug (yes, in my mind it's been demoted enough not to justify the capital P), and there have been many of these already. To think that the news about the next Benny box set has been held back at least twice (Christmas podcast and Big Finish Day 8) but there has been lots of advertising for the prisoner (Vortex last month even got a flip cover with you-know-what getting the second cover).
This could be a great way for writers to mention what they are writing, recording etc. Even a short line like "Fifth Doctor story" or "moving on to casting for Bloodline" would be great to see. Maybe tease an interesting line out of context to keep us guessing. Nothing that spoils the story or characters or anything. A few years ago a website (I can't recall which one) would publish ten or so things about an upcoming Doctor Who ep, but without context. Let's Kill Hitler had something like "Rory is coming out, but Hitler is in the closet" for example.

Brilliantly put seeley, my reaction to another Prisoner plug on BF website is "oh ffs Nick (sighs)" & while this series is a good one & Nick has fought to get the Prisoner licence & proud of what it's achieved please don't ignore other Big Finish releases. I think poor ole Charley Pollard has been discarded into oblivion with the delaying of her box set.

I think with Charley, it's more of taking the time to launch her to the new audience coming in - she was a companion to Eight after all and that's a great point of intrest. I'd imagine their reuioun probably isn't that far off either this year or early next. Yes, the delays to the second box set were disappointing, but well Big Finish were given a chance to open themselves up to a significant new audience and that's a massive pirority and I don't think any of us long-standing fans can begrudge them for taking up that opportunity.

I don't mind that Nick Briggs is promoting the Prisoner good for him and I am sure there are fans that are interested & excited but why can't the other releases get this style of promotion. Maybe some don't need it but I can't think that's the same for every release. It's just the fact that the Prisoner is getting promoted above all else that annoys me a bit not that Nick Briggs is excited about the prisoner. There can be excitement about the Prisoner & Big Finish's other output too. Just my 2 cents. Edit: Although to be to be fair being involved with fandom I know I go on and on about things I love (probably to the annoyance of my non-fandom friends) I am sure many of us are guilty of this. I guess Nick Briggs just really loves the Prisoner. I still want to see love for other Big Finish releases and ranges though!
