So i've been watching the original series, and had been commenting on it as I went through, and really using it a s a diary to see how far along I have got. When the BF forum went, I felt a little adrit, as somteimes you need a bit of a push to get through certain parts of the series, as it is -dare I say, a little bit of a drag. So I am creating this thread to comment on how I'm getting on. And if there are any others going through the Original Series, please join in! SPOILERS !!

Knowing we're getting a first time return for Burke Devlin in Dark Shadows is something I'm really, really exicted about. He's fantastic. Have you watched much of the tv series? I much prefer the original Burke, so am looking forward to this release as well Cheers Tony On my marathon which - thanks to being off work till Christmas - I'm racing hrough, I'm about 90 eps in and I adore Burke. I love that in the first 70 or so eps though he has "plans" for Colinwood, he really doesn't have to do much to cause trouble, everyone's so scared of him they get themselves worked up I'm loving him now - post Roger Malloy's death - that the gloves are off He and Roger Collins are my faves of these pre-Barnabas eps.

So am currently on ep.618 and we're dealing with Eve and Jeff Clarke knowing each other in a previous life, and getting caught kissing by Roger. And Barnabas being Angelique's blood-bank. I'm enjoying it at the moment and cannot say how glad I am knowing that Adam and Eve are shuvving off soon

Just finished episode 1003 and I'm still agog. The show really hits its stride in the 1897 storyline and barely lets up. I love the Leviathan storyline too (although I know many people don't) but Parallel Time is working on all cylinders too.
This is a great show.

Rob, is this your first run-through? I think I've seen it three times. Since my first viewing in the late 80's/early 90's. I, too, love the Leviathans and Parallel Time. Hell, I love it all--even pre Barnabas, Adam and Eve, and parallel 1841.

In the middle of the Phoenix arc now - David has just appeared on the painting. I love, love, love Roger Collins. Even now, all he can say to his troubled son is "No..no...I wouldn't be very happy if you left". He just doesn't know how to open up but he's so fun in his sly aloofness. So loving this pre-Barnabas era. I'm actually sorry there's only about 50 or 60 eps left of it

I really, really want to splurge and buy the coffin box set with the whole damn thing. Dark Shadows was one of those shows that defined a lot of my childhood. I barely remember those pre-BC episodes although I know I watched them.

Started with episode 1, wobbled a bit through the a saga of the silver pen, but have been kind of munching through it like it was popcorn ever since. Have to go back and do the first Laura the Phoenix bit as those DVDs didn't show up at the time and the first Barnabas ones did, but now I have the coffin box set so have it all.

Just started watching it a few weeks ago (never seen an episode in me life before), watched the first 20 or so and liked the feel and music but found it a bit slow tbh. So I fast forwarded to episode 210 this weekend and watched another dozen yesterday. Do like Barnabas (pleasant and creepy at the same time) and I really like the Victoria Winters voice over/intro for each episode. Looking forward to watching more and I ordered me first BF dark shadows CD the other day

So.. Blimey! I watched quite a bit over the weekend, and am currently on episode 637. Diablo - Amazing! Eve gone! Adam gone (is he still hiding?) Weddings And Jeff has faded away. The Jennings family have arrived including Amy, I have a feeling that its going to start getting slow again but man I've really enjoyed my marathon session.

Finished the Phoenix story. Poor Liz isn't home for 5 minutes before this Jason fella is here blackmailing her. I'm SO close to getting to the Barnabas era and I'm really going to miss Roger being the main Collins man...I love him so much. So sardonic and just the right side of camp. He's almost like Frasier Crane mixed with The Sixth Doctor I give a wee cheer whenever he goes for a wee brandy

David, seriously, you are over the hard part, and really getting onto the good stuff. I dunno, I have absolutely loved this stuff. Burke Devlin is just wonderful, Roger's a legend and Sam Evans' actor is really fantastic to watch.

Well, I might be just a little biased, lol, but I think Dark Shadows is absolutely brilliant. Dark Shadows and Doctor Who are about the only things I can think of from 30+ years of TV that I think are really worth revisiting, and I adore to no end that both of them are massive, epic stories that one can get completely engrossed in.

I'll have to give it a try then. Im always looking for new series to fall in love with.

Timelordspy, I am really enjoying it, however it can get a little lazy, it can seriously irritate me, and it is a massive undertaking with 1245 episodes. But when it is great it is literally iconic! I'm at a part where, having heard all od the drama's to date i'm learning the actual stories behind the audios like the house by the sea (which is amazing) which is really cool for me! I think it is good but really turns it up to 100 when Barnabas arrives and thats not for somthing like 200+ episodes. So you should go into it knowing that, but it is still good, watchable, likeable and spooky, but if you're still watching by the time he arrives you're hooked.
