The Woman who Fell to Earth - again!
This series really does improve with re-watches. Initially in 2018, I was comparing the action and dialogue with the previous few Moffat-infused years. Revisits allow you to watch the new stuff 'in its own right', and I'm enjoying it.

The Time Meddler
Quite the narrative bombshell back in its day. It's the first story to definitively state that the past can be altered. If anyone's curious about the missing link between this and something like The Reign of Terror, I recommend picking up Simon Guerrier's The Time Travellers. It's the first time that the Doctor clarifies his original statement to Ian and Barbara, that time is unalterable. In truth, it's quite malleable, but there are physical (as well as moral) laws preventing interference.
So, here we are. A nice burgeoning mystery regarding a monastery in Northumbria. Not a few days out from the Viking Invasion. The scenes of the Doctor exploring the cloisters are gorgeous. The lighting, the use of space, it keeps you rapt throughout. We were lucky to have Douglas Camfield for as long as we did, he produced some terrific directorial entries. And then the Doctor discovers the phonograph, just as Steven found the digital watch, and the whole story takes a sharp left. Season 2 seemed to tap into the 60s swing in a very contemporary way. The, then upcoming, 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings makes the setting rather logical, but so does Peter Butterworth's appearance as the first confirmed member of the Doctor's People. A youngster, fifty years younger, by comparison.
There's so much to like about this story, there really is. The Doctor may bow out for the second episode, but writer Dennis Spooner uses this as an opportunity to explore the dynamic between Vicki and new traveller, Steven. I like how we get a sense of Steven's impulsiveness, tempered by Vicki's own experience travelling in the TARDIS. When the oldster does return, his scenes with the Monk really spark. It seems such an archetypical First Doctor thing to use a tree branch as a fake shoulder rifle. Then, when his bluff is called, remind the Monk that it's still a weapon. Just not the one he was expecting. His sense of humour's always been rather interesting. Nonlethal violent retribution is almost cathartic (far from the frail old man he'd seem) and he's always delighted to solve a mental riddle.
It was likely this story, among others, that the Time Lord Tribunal were thinking of during The War Games. (Could this mark the first time, albeit indirectly, that the Doctor ends up working for his People?)
A fun romp with a fun team, clearly enjoying themselves, against a fun (and quite novel) adversary.

I rewatched Under the Lake and Before the Flood, a really good and intense base under siege two parter😀 I love the hollow eyed ghost effect! I think that the sign language and lip reading is very well integrated and respectfully done. I think 12 and Clara have a lot of beautiful moments that really show how much they love each other ❤️ Also does Before the Flood remind anyone else of Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban?

I think the reason for this is the lighting. These two episodes somehow have a completely different feel, at least for me. They for some reason feel different from the rest of that series. The lighting and colour palette is slightly different and indeed a bit similar to Prisoner of Askaban.
That would be my explanation.

Also I noticed that the scene where 12 hides from himself in his own time stream is very similar to the scenes where Harry and Ron hide from themselves.

Death to the Daleks - I've never really liked this one, but it's Mr Polly's first time through the classic series and it's up next, so lights out and away we go...

I don't think any of Pertwee's Dalek stories are all that great, but Day is the best of 'em.

Death to the Daleks - I've never really liked this one, but it's Mr Polly's first time through the classic series and it's up next, so lights out and away we go... I've always loved it as it was one of the first 7 I got whilst still at school around 1986 - eccentric incidental music and all. Its (the story as a whole) like the pop music you listened to when you were 14-15 - it stays with you, no matter how more sophisticated in tastes you become as you get older. Better stories watched in later years remain less embedded. Watched this during the week, coincidentally, and I am amazed I never knew all these years that the Stormtroopers in Star Wars (1977) were carrying modified Dalek machine guns from this story, as per the Doctor in episode 3:

Heaven Sent, World Enough and Time, and The Doctor Falls because I love 12 and I’m not adverse to a good cry❤️😢😀
I don’t think I can say to much about Heaven Sent that has not been said but it’s a brilliant and tragic one man show!
World enough and time is one of creepiest, twistiest episodes of Doctor Who ever made!
The Doctor Fall is an amazing tearjerker for Bill, Missy, and the Doctor! The imagery at the beginning with the crybermen on crosses is so visually arresting! Also love the theremin music in both halves, it captures Cybermen so well! After rewatching a lot of 12’s episodes recently I am noticing even more that the first time I watched them what a compelling character arch he had! I think his Doctor had some of the most development of any Doctor!

The Ghost Monument - again!
Absolutely love this story, and appreciate it more every time I see it. It's straightforward, has a fine cast, has great action sequences, looks amazing and features a truly emotional reappearance of the TARDIS.
I'll be honest: when I watched Series 11 originally, I didn't think I'd bother revisiting most of the stories. There are still a couple I've seen only on transmission, but the others I have re-watched more than anything featuring The 10th and 11th Doctor.
It's great being wrong-footed and delighted by my favourite television show, even after all these years.

Just rewatched Last Christmas (the DW Christmas special not the movie😄) I think the ending scene of old Clara and 12 celebrating Christmas together and then her waking up young again and kissing 12 on the cheek is one of the most romantic and heartwarming moments ever on Doctor Who! ❤️The whole episode is a magnificent combination of funny, tragic, terrifying, heartwarming, deeply romantic! 😊I think the dream crabs concept in Last Christmas is another amazing Moffat messing with reality episode that is very reminiscent of both Silence in the Library/ Forest of the Dead and Amy’s Choice🙂
It’s funny originally when I first watched their run of episodes I had trouble warning up to both 12 and Clara, 12 seemed so cold and abrasive and Clara seemed too perfect, but the more I have watched and rewatched and thought about them the more I love 12 and Clara both individually and together. If you think about it they almost have a beauty and the beast style romance with Clara as the independent young woman taming and mellowing 12.The Doctor went from being handsome young (looking)man 11 and turned into something fierce and uncomfortable in his own skin (12), yes he didn’t change back into 11 but he did gradually relax and feel more comfortable in his own identity thanks to Clara❤️
As a side note, sometimes I think if Rose got a second 10, Clara should be entitled to a second 12 to travel with🤔 ❤️

Resolution - again!
This, far and away my favourite Chris Chibnall script, gets better every time I see it, much like Series 11. Terrific stuff for the regulars (the three of them actually have a distant Ian, Susan, Barbara vibe about them, I'm thinking); Segun's great music as always; some truly eerie sequences, and the whole thing looks terrific.
Also, whilst I enjoyed al the nonsense with the microwave, the car chase, the UNIT revelation ... you cannot beat a sustained scene featuring one solitary homemade Dalek completely trashing the local military.

Just rewatched Last Christmas (the DW Christmas special not the movie😄) Ditto! First of the TV Who Christmas episodes I'm revisiting this season. Haven't watched it since it aired. Enjoyed it a lot both then and now - but Jenna Coleman does seem to be playing Old Clara for this whole episode! The writing certainly skews that way - "I thought I'd never see you again" in the opening makes it seem like it's been far more than a few months and her "Every Christmas is last Christmas" to Santa sure is more poignant if she's closer to the end of her life. Also the Death in Heaven double lie has consequences if the Old Clara ending was our actual ending - they did truly lose each other because of what they said and it can't be undone. I also remember watching that scene back in 2014 and thinking "alright now go back for Shona!!" - and I'd still be down to hear Faye Marsay alongside Capaldi on audio! And of course, the Old Clara scene was the original ending as scripted, with Jenna deciding to stay at the last minute, so perhaps what I'm picking up on in the writing. But as you said, timegirl... ...and you're right - the joy that the Doctor has in realizing he's got her back is delivered beautifully. "Don't make me argue" is so breathless and hopeful. Fantastic acting by Capaldi - still makes me sad that even though we had him for four years, he only got three seasons. And even though I prefer the Old Clara ending to her Face the Raven and Hell Bent fate(s), there is some solid foreshadowing of how far the Doctor will go to protect Clara. When the dream crab gets to Clara, he asks the lead scientist how to kill it - and she calls him on going too far. Plus, of course, having experienced that "second chance" - really a third counting her brief departure following Kill the Moon - the Doctor is desperate not to screw things up again. NEXT WEEK: My very first viewing of A Girl's Best Friend, with re-watches of The Next Doctor, The Unquiet Dead & A Christmas Carol to follow in future weeks.

Monster of Peladon - Watched the entirety of this one in a single sitting last night. I've always been fond of the Peladon stories. This one's not as good as the first, and the miners wearing badgers on their heads is a bit distracting, but it's a pretty enjoyable revisit. Only one Pertwee story left for Mr Polly and I. If he falls asleep during the end of Planet of Spiders like he did during this story, he can sleep on that couch for the next week then.

I rewatched Face the Raven 😭 It’s a brilliant but heartbreaking episode! I love the world building with the trap street and the human appearances of the aliens who live there suggest the type of alien they are. I love the suspense and the heartbreaking ending.
Now on to a bit of a rant, I really really really hate Me(Ashildr)! Now don’t get me wrong her actress gives a good performance,as the Viking girl turned immortal . But Me is one of if not the biggest karma Houdini in all Doctor Who. She wants revenge against the Doctor despite him originally giving her immortality as an act of kindness. She was trying to sell out the Doctor to Rassilon. The Doctor should definitely have not given Clara to her to travel with considering her views of flippant views of treating people! End rant!
Clara’s death and 12’s reaction leading up to it are so heartbreaking they rival the scene on the beach with Rose and 10. You truly get the impression that 12 and Clara are each other’s true equals. 12 does not just seem sad his hearts are utterly shattered into a million tiny pieces.
