If you're wondering about Dodo, the novel Salvation might be a good read. Not really, she never interested me much as a character. It's a shame Jackie Lane hasn't worked with Big Finish to give Dodo's character a well-deserved fleshing out. We could of had a story with her and Peter Purves, which would have easily sounded like a full cast.

It's sad that we'll probably never get an audio adaptation of The Man in the Velvet Mask as a consequence.

I've been rewatching a lot of Myth Makers interviews this week. It's easy to forget Jackie Lane did one - and she's quite lovely and chatty. She's been considered such a recluse when it comes to Who events over the years its a real bit of treasure to have an hour with her. She did pop up for half a second on the Aftershow of the 50th Special which was nice but this is great stuff. Michael Craze's one is very bittersweet. There's so little of his stuff out there despite being a Who-con regular before his death. He just passed away before everyone and their granny could film stuff, I guess. The After Party? Where five has-beens tried to perform over a failed live-crossover? I thought everyone was trying to forget that! They may be awful but 1D are still the biggest thing going. They were even bigger in 2013 when the show went on. These BBC aftershows focus on fame not talent I'm not sure who thought they deserved so much screen time when Jean Marsh for one should be an extra...

We returned to Peladon:
Curse of Peladon with Jo and then Monster of Peladon with Sarah Jane. Bizarrely I thought the six part Monster worked much better than the the four part Curse. David Troughton was excellent, but what on earth (Peladon) was the short, shorts and thigh length boots all about lol.
Cheers

From what I've heard about that story, I find it extremely unlikely that the BBC would allow it to be adapted, regardless of Jackie Lane's availability. Considering that BF was apparently forced to cut the bit with Benny accidentally getting high from the Highest Science, I doubt that Dodo having a sex-life would be permitted.

Benny getting high in The Highest Science was effectively padding, not advancing the plot in any meaningful way. Two of the people she was getting high with were also excised from the adaptation, they didn't add anything to the story and two more actors to worry about. The Love and War adaptation only had one person representing Benny's archaeological team on Heaven, apart from Benny.

Boom Town. I love the easy going dynamic between the Doctor, Rose and Jack (the Doctor seemingly flirting with Jack at the beginning is loads of fun). A funny first half and an introspective and compelling second half. Annette Badland is superb, giving Margaret/Blon Fel Fetch a real depth and this episode downplays many of the Slitheen visuals and fart gags (I think there's less than five minutes of Slitheen costume footage in this episode). There is humour to be found in the second half, but it never intrudes on the drama. Mickey is well served, again he's feeling like he's a third (or is that fourth?) wheel and he deserves respect for not just waiting around for Rose and taking charge of his own life.

The DWM app. Cheaper, more portable, and actually available when it is in the UK. That is all I will say. I haven't got an iPad, just an iPod Touch and an iPhone.

I haven't got an iPad, just an iPod Touch and an iPhone. Eh. I read on my iPod. Even easier since last issue they introduced Article View, which lets you read it as you would an EPub. How does that work with the comic strip? Is it still readable?

They'd probably have a collective heart attack if they saw the original source material for an adaptation of Transit. Ranging from the Doctor getting drunk and celebrating the universe's birthday with Kadiatu to the Angel Francine's Ice Maiden bar, it's the kind of novel where you want to stand up and shake Ben Aaronovitch's hand for pushing the envelope so far and yet still keeping it as recognisable Doctor Who. There's so much fun to be had in that book, including a moment where the Doctor is composing a melody from the random thoughts in his mind which basically culminates in a call from Benny, "Hey Doctor. Why don't you just stick your head up so I can blow it off?" Adult without being adolescent. It's almost like he was channelling William Gibson.

The Mind Robber. Totally bonkers, but brilliant. Cheers Tony In the 90s when I saw it, and The Invasion - they cemented Troughton as by far my favourite Doctor. Then BF came along, revived Sixie and gave us an actual era for McGann and I have to have three #1's....then Capaldi comes along and its 4! I still adore Mind Robber. It's as close as the series has ever come to being pure comic book.

Time and the Rani, provided Netflix's prediction that it should arrive today holds true.
Poor Colin Baker. They really ****ed him over.
I also don't know what his detractors were complaining about re: his TV run. I loved his performances. A nice clean break from Davison's much mellower/hapless Doctor. And when he said something brash, I usually fully agreed with it (and probably would have reacted the same way in his place).
Now, on to McCoy thrashing about in a wig...
