"Wave of Destruction" is actually stated in the extras to be set around "City of Death", not after "Well-Mannered War". And the other series 5 4DAs are also likely to set around that time.

How disappointing. I was going to listen to the Novel Adaptations leading up to Series 5, but if they're in the opposite order that's a bit less inspiring. Oh well.

I was also hoping that series 5 would resolve the cliffhanger from "Well-Mannered War", but alas, it is not to be (yet).

Hello everyone! I've now updated the Fourth Doctor's timeline by re-arranging the FDA Series 5 stories set after 'City of Death'. Thanks to ausir for mentioning this. Gutted though that the stories aren't set after 'Well-Mannered War' as I was hoping for some resolution to that cliff-hanger. Maybe someday there will be. Thanks. Tim.

Although BF did say Series 6 is set between 'The Leisure Hive' and 'Meglos'. Perhaps 'Leisure Hive' was set in the {Spoiler} the land of fiction after all. Who knows.
Thanks. Tim.

Actually there is still hope as the two part finale feature the villain from that novel

I've finally listened to the new season of Fourth Doctor Adventures, and I have to say, I don't think they take place after "City of Death" at all. I can understand why that conclusion was originally reached since in the CD Extras Justin Richards says he was "asked for something set around about the same time as 'City of Death' and sort of the same tone." But he was referring to it in contrast with the Leela stories he had written, so I think that was more intended to specify Season 17 in general and not "City of Death" in particular. Exhibit A: In Wave of Destruction Romana uses her sonic screwdriver, which she first shows the Doctor in "The Horns of Nimon," the last story of the season. I considered the possibility that she had made it and not told the Doctor about it until later, but then in The Labyrinth of Buda Castle she loans it to the Doctor, so that rules that out. Exhibit B: The Labyrinth of Buda Castle is treated as a "modern day" story, and Romana gives the date as 1980. And Part Four of "The Horns of Nimon" aired on 12 January 1980. So the implication is that had this been made at the time, it would have been after "The Horns of Nimon" yet still in Season 17. So all the evidence points to these episodes going between "The Horns of Nimon" and "The Leisure Hive." I have no idea if they should go before, after, or between Babblesphere and The Pyralis Effect. My personal instinct is to hedge my bets and put them between them. (And of course newt5996 may be right and The Pursuit of History/Casualties of Time might go after The Well-Mannered War after all, but we'll just have to wait and see for that one. I certainly do hope so!) Thanks again for making these timelines!! I'm constantly referring to them and am happy to finally have something to contribute to one.

Glad you enjoy using these timelines and that you find them helpful. Very interesting insight on this aspect of the latest Fourth Doctor adventures. This is making me wonder about the placement of these latest Fourth Doctor and Romana adventures by Big Finish. If it's all the same to you, I'm going to wait until we get to the end of this series of FDAs and find out whether the Black Guardian's appearance takes place before or after 'The Well-Mannered War' set between 'The Horns of Nimon' and 'The Leisure Hive'. I'm hoping it's after, but BF are keeping it under wraps at the moment. Thanks. Tim.

You've already got it in the right spot, but I wanted to mention that this week's podcast (re)confirmed that 4DA Series 8 takes place after The Invasion of Time / in the gap between Seasons 15 and 16.
