Of the audiobooks, I've got The Blind Painter, The Death Mask, The Last Stop, House by the Sea, and Beyond the grave. The first one I abhorred, the second was unremarkable but inoffensive, and I loved the last three. I've also listened to The House of Despair, which I rather liked. Based on that admittedly limited data, which audiobooks would folks here recommend? I know that The Flip Side has been quite praised, as have the Tony and Cassandra ones. And the Darkest Shadow (itself a sequel to the Eternal Actress) has Dorian Grey, so I suppose I should check that one out. Cheers! If you liked House by the Sea and Beyond the Grave then Harvest of Souls is a sequel to both. If you liked Bloodlust then I'd especially recommend Beneath the Veil, Enemy Within, The Flip Side, In the Twinkling of an Eye (very linked to Bloodlust), Deliver Us From Evil, Tainted Love... basically anything from 34 onwards is in that style. But those are the most Bloodlusty. And if you haven't heard Bloodlust then that's an essential purchase.

Of the older ones Matthew Waterhouse is very proud of The Creeping Fog and it's easy to see why.

This really is a fantastic sale, shame I have them all already Cheers Tony Same here! But I think this is so lovely for people that want to get more DS but may have been limited by their budgets! Bravo to Big Finish for this sale!

Undoubtedly an excellent value sale! However, could it be construed by some of the regular price purchasers that Big Finish was a little too aggressive on substantially discounting newer Dark Shadows releases (45-50) that have not even been out for a year? And Red All Over (50) was barely released 6 months ago. Doesn't bother me in the slightest! I am willing to pay the release date prices to have the audios as they come out, and I know that if I wanted to be patient, a bargain will come at some future date. (I don't--patience is not MY virtue.) However, I'm so happy sales like this have the potential to bring new listeners to a range which I have considered required listening since Day 1. And, for those who have stayed away only because of financial considerations, how wonderful that now they will have the chance to come on over! I don't think they will ever leave.

And the Darkest Shadow (itself a sequel to the Eternal Actress) has Dorian Grey, so I suppose I should check that one out. Cheers! The Harvest of Souls is a great follow-up to both House by the Sea and Beyond the Grave. Colin Baker's character reappears and the story follows Maggie's emotional state after the horrific events of Beyond the Grave. Definitely check out the Flip Side if you're a fan of Carolyn, and it also has a catchy original song that's part of the narrative and included as a bonus track at the end. cschell wrote that and ...and Red all Over, which is a big homage to the early black and white episodes before everything turned supernatural, with the original Burke Devlin as played by Mitch Ryan and the reliably excellent KLS. Definitely grab ...and Red all Over while it's on sale, it's not often stories go on sale so soon after being released. While your at it, if you haven't got them already use the opportunity to grab the other post-Bloodlust audiobooks at bargain price. The Darkest Shadow is a two-disc story, and The Skin Walkers has a loose connection to the third series of Confessions of Dorian Gray. The Phantom Bride and the Devil Cat are excellent entries in the Tony and Cassandra arc. All the stories in that arc are set outside of Collinsport, with Voodoo Amulet in New Orleans, Phantom Bride on a trans-Atlantic cruise ship and Devil Cat in the English countryside. The arc is stand-alone in relation to the other audios. You mention you like The Last Stop. The Dark Lord is, or has influence in other stories, like the Trask Family arc as well as Beneath the Veil, The Enemy Within and Deliver Us From Evil (wraps up BtV and TEW). Jerry Lacey is in much of the Trask Family arc (The Wicked and the Dead, The Carrion Queen and The Fall of the House of Trask) as the Reverend Trask, a role he has reprised in the full cast stories Kingdom of the Dead and Bloodlust.

Of the older ones Matthew Waterhouse is very proud of The Creeping Fog and it's easy to see why. That's a good one! Another great Quentin story with a Doctor Who actor is London's Burning with Louise Jameson as Rosie Fay. Nicola Bryant does a great job in The Blind Painter (about a character important to Quentin and his curse), and Colin Baker is phenomenal is The House by the Sea.

Being a newbie myself I can't really recommend much but if you don't have them I highly enjoyed the Post Bloodlust audios. My personal favorite of those ones were
Panic The Curse of Shurafa In a Twinkling of an Eye Tainted Love
So from a new fan to possibly any other new fans I highly recommend those if you don't already have them.

Wish Me Luck as I say Welcome To Collinsport! Good luck! I have been reminded by the Collinsport Historical Society's website that there is a rough timeline of the plays here. It's not perfect (The Path of Fate is set in the 90s, I think, but isn't shown) but it is a good guide to listening order. I'd definitely listen to the House by the Sea before Beyond the Grave. And I think The Creeping Fog and London's Burning are best done together (although the order doesn't matter too much narratively I think). A side note: Operation Victor also has Who alumnus Terry Molloy in. He's on good form in it - and playing a mad scientist for a change

I got The Doll House, The Blind Painter, The Death Mask, The Crimson Pearl, The Voodoo Amulet, The House by the Sea, The Eternal Actress, Speak No Evil, The Last Stop, Beneath the Veil, Beyond the Grave, and The Darkest Shadow. I've already listened to The Doll House and The Blind Painter. I was expecting a creepy doll story from The Doll House which came up in the end but was nothing like I expected and I loved every moment. The Blind Painter was a wonderful story after I googled who Quentin Collins was and I think that it was interesting to see how it all came together as a backstory Quentin's portrait.

Also a lot of love for Operation Victor, which I think is one of the jewels of the Dark Shadows range. It is so totally different than what we are used to in the range and it works so well. I'd love a sequel to that story. It also reminds me a little bit of the Robert McCammon book, The Wolf's Hour....which if you have never read, you really should. Russian born werewolf who is a spy for the British during WWII. What is not to love? Anyway, this sale will be all about getting the first two full cast sets and also about getting the Trask trilogy.

last time there was a big Dark Shadows offer I tried out the series (without any prior experience) with the Tony & Cassandra bundle, the Quentin Bundle and the Trask bundle - I was not disappointed
I have since bought all the releases to date (so nothing in this offer)
edit: just realised I don't have either of the music releases.....

Just Listened to The House By The Sea and … IT WAS AMAZING!!! Sorry, the new Dark Shadows fan inside of me just came out. Anyways, I had a couple of questions 1. Are there any audios that I should avoid as a new listener 2. Do you absolutely have to listen to Bloodlust before listening to 45-50 or can you listen to them first. Thanks

Thanks House by the Sea is amazing isn't it? Colin really gets to shine in a role which isn't the Doctor - which just goes to further amplify how great an actor he is Avoid is a difficult one. Some are more continuity heavy than others which - if you're entirely new to the world of Dark Shadows - could be problematic. 45 - 50 is a good run (but I would say that) but I'd argue that Bloodlust is a good thing to listen to before them. Those stories push the stories on past Bloodlust and a couple of them push us towards Bloodline which is the next serial so I think Bloodlust is a good one to go with!
