There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

My Mum informed me that some people had recently come up with a ludicrous theory about autism after watching the first episode of The A Word. The theory is that "everybody is a little bit autistic". WRONG. Sure, you could take personality traits of autism and think that's what it is, but it actually has to affect the person's communication skills and also get a professional diagnosis for you to actually call it what it is. We're hoping this isn't going to become a thing, because if it is and people actually swallow that then this is what will start happening: "I'm sorry, I can't really do what you're asking me because of my autism." "Well, I'm a little bit autistic too and I can do it fine. Why can't you?" No one is "a little bit autistic". Either you are autistic, or you aren't. There are different kinds of autism. There's no "cure". Some people just cope with it, and some people don't. Too late: the latest research shows that everyone has some tendencies somewhere on the ASD spectrum, meaning that we all display some sort of "autistic" behaviour somewhere in our lives. The plus side is that it should make people a little more aware of what these conditions are. The downside is that you are absolutely right, and there are people out there on social media and forums and blogs and RL using it as an excuse to cover any social gaffes - or worse - that they make, expecting that sympathy will free them of wilful blame.

watched ep 1, will not be watching anymore......one word BORING
like Tennent was in this kind of clap-trap, Eccelston is so miscast. little lad did well but not for me.
I am sure it has an audience but like doctor foster, happy valley, and the lying one with Jason manford just don't get why people like them.
my life is miserable enough with watching someone else's, I want a story not ho hum drivel.
