Instead of creating a thread for every audio that we aren't (or already) did group listens to I thought I'd create this this thread for anyone who wants to write about older Dark Shadows audios they just listened to. Keeping this thread spoiler free so if there are any major spoilers or twists please be kind and tag them.
Anyways I just listened to Death Mask the first of the Tony & Cassandra audios. The mystery itself was just okay but I highly enjoyed the interaction between T&C. Like a glass of champagne, extra bubbly. I also like that this audio served as an introduction to their relationship so I didn't feel I was thrust right in. I am definitely looking forward to continuing my journey with them which I plan to do in conjunction to the Quentin Collins audios. Angelique with Quentin it just feels right.

Oh I think it'd be nicer to have thoughts about a story in its own thread. What do others think?

Oh I think it'd be nicer to have thoughts about a story in its own thread. What do others think? Well that's going to clutter up the board with threads with one or two replies. Note new releases & group listens can still have their own thread.

I'm a thread per story person myself.
But I do realise they may get buried.
But yeah, a thread for the first Tony and Cassandra works for me.

I suppose I can make this thread dedicated to Tony & Cassandra as a compromise.

I'm reminded of an old sitcom Lab Rats and a conversation between a research doctor and his University Dean...
DR: Everyone likes to compromise Dean: No one likes to compromise DR: Most people like to compromise Dean: A few people like to compromise DR: Some people like to compromise Dean: Yes, some people like to compromise

While it can get annoying to have the forums cluttered with a few short posts here and there, I believe it allows people the opportunity to find just what they wanted. In particular with a set of audios (Tony and Cassandra, Quentin adventures, Maggie, Windcliffe, 1973, postBloodlust, etc), it allows people to progress at their own rate and not need worry about getting spoilers (someone who has only listened to The Death Mask won't accidentally read a post on The Voodoo Amulet ahead of time that might influence their listening to it).
The Death Mask was a great audio. Cassandralique comes with such a complicated history as hundreds of years as Angelique the witch and also her enjoying the role as simply Cassandra Blair Collins. It's a lot to figure out, even as someone who has seen the series through recently and kept up with the audios. Tony Peterson meanwhile isn't too strongly fleshed out. The author had a lot of fun bringing them together and Dark Shadows audio's first murder mystery. In addition, it started a series of audios that I hope will go on for quite some time (let's not have The Devil Cat be the last one released).

Well I understand about spoilers which is why I asked people to tag any major twists or reveals. This is not an untagged spoilers are allowed topic.

Yeah, that's my thinking. I don't seen the problem with 'too many' threads. Threads are clearly labelled (or should be ). So people actually should find it easier to see what they're looking for much easier than in a thread about several plays that they don't know all the content of.

Well since I started the thread because I will be listening to these I'd rather not have to create a new thread every time I listen to a new one. If that is okay with you all. And what can I say I don't like clutter.

Last week I listened to the Vodoo Amulet and today it was the Last Stop. I have to say that with the first two audios: Death Mask & Vodoo Amulet I was more engrossed in the Tony and Cassandra relationship Spoiler for Vodoo Amulet I even squeee a bit at the kiss in the end even if Tony wants to pretend it doesn't mean anything, Ha then the supernatural mysteries Tony and Cassandra were investigating. I think Last Stop was the first story where I loved the story as a whole which is ironic since it's not really a Tony & Cassandra story. But I absolutely loved the two hander between Jerry Lacy and W Morgan Sheppard. Such a great guest performance by Sheppard I mentioned on here in the past that I am not the biggest fan of devil possession stories but on the other hand I love Faustian tales so I guess this story was right up my alley. I also loved the subway metaphor As I said in the What are you Listening now thread I was a bit surprised how much I enjoyed this one since not many people mentioned it. Well it was quite a lovely surprise.

Oh my I just finished The Devil Cat. Was not expecting that ending at all. How beautifully tragic. Just when you think Tony and Cassandra may find happiness it's snatched away from them in the cruelest of fates.
Of course I want more T&C audios but then another part of me thinks this is such an unexpected & daring ending. I'm torn a bit Note my favorite of the T&C audios as a whole was definitely The Last Stop despite the fact that it was more of a Tony audio then a T&C one. I do think the joy of the T&C audios is definitely the relationship and terrific chemistry between Tony and Cassandra. The supernatural mysteries largely didn't interest me much in these audios. I like that Tony and Cassandra grew to care about one another but that fiery spark remained in their relationship. Both Tony and Cassandra gave as good as they got. They were equals and the relationship was based on mutual respect.

First of all, will these be the weekly audios after the Quentin stories conclude next week or is there another audio trend folks want to tackle? With The Devil Cat, the ending was certainly a surprise to me, though it fits in perfectly with other, older audios. Regarding the end of The Devil Cat and Bloodlust, just a bit of a Poor Lara Parker must have thought last year that she goofed up big time with her character being written off in both stories. Good thing death is a loose barrier in Dark Shadows, particularly for Angelique. This year, Lara Parker seems to be taking center stage, so we know there's lots of love for our favorite witch's actress.

I'm guessing the group won't be taking on the Tony & Cassandra stories yet, because we already did them in the recent past, and there are still many other options not done yet. Of course, Bobod has been our leader and I go along for the ride. The nice thing about these group listens is that you can skip any you may have recently heard and pick up with the group again when something else comes up. So, a Tony & Cassandra listenthru would just mean that I may be able to catch up on Survivors!! I'm cool with anything!
And Bobod, before you nominate me to lead a group listen, thank you but I've got a bit too much going on right now with Mom's care that requires my priority attention. Of course if the thought never even entered your mind, then to coin a phrase, "Balls to me!" LOL!!! Naturally, I'm with you all the way! Thanks much for your tireless and often thankless (by me anyway) efforts on our behalf. You, quite frankly, rock!

Who made us that great document that had everything listed with a link to the actual thread back on the BF site?
Would that work here and be pinned as a table of conoents per se....

I think there was a request for the first two seasons of the full cast audios to be the next listenthru. I did think at the time agreeing the next one before starting the current one was so super-efficient that no one would remember when the time came.

These audios proved to be particularly popular at the Festival - we were specifically asked for more T&C releases by numerous people, and both Jerry and Lara told me that was what people were saying to them too.

This is really both interesting and surprising to me! While I think Mark Passmore has written some wonderful stories and makes this a very fascinating duo, they seem more to me like a spinoff range and are the LEAST like the original! I still like them all, but would place them at the bottom of my favorites list. Pulp detective fiction is not a favorite genre for me...or detective fiction in general. Sorry, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! However, this pairing works for me because of their history on the show, Mark's writing which adds the element of friendship and possibly more, the chemistry of the two leads, and the supernatural aspect. If it didn't have those, it would seem very Sam Spade or Maltese Falcon to me. So, yeah, if more are done, of course I'll buy them! The upshot is, I HATE it when my opinions are not the majority opinions!!! It bruises me, and makes me see red! (I'm just being facetious of course!)
