Quite simply one of the best TV shows of its time. Not a duff episode. It's sci-fi, mystery, period drama, horror, ghost story...and much more. David McCallum and Joanna Lumley played Steel and Sapphire on TV, David Warner and Susannah Harker on audio - both teams are fantastic. Wow. I guess I'll have to look for the TV show. Sounds terrific. I never bothered with the audios because I didn't know what it was, and now it seems it's too late. It's never too late, I'm sure eBay has some of the BF Sapphire & Steel CDs available. Dorney completists will definitely need to pick up Remember Me for their collection! The TV show was creepy, and the Big Finish audios generally were too. I thought the first two seasons of Sapphire & Steel audios were brilliant, the third not so much so. But if the CDs can be picked up cheaply on eBay they are all worth checking out.

One thing I haven't seen anyone comment on is how rich the soundscapes are in these stories. They are so clear as well as complex and able to deliver the necessary information so that the cast isn't constantly telling us what they are seeing. As for the direction, the lack of sound strategically placed is as wonderful and the sounds we can hear. And the time that they take with certain scenes, like the reverend crossing over into, well, something adds so much to the tension. So really well done.
I may have to find the TV show to watch.
Bring on Series 2!

I am intrigued about this and have been for a while but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to whether I need to have seen the TV show first. Some say yes, some no, some are no but you will miss out on such and such.......
maybe if it is in a sale I may plump for it or if the reviews for series 2 are mostly positive that may tipple me over.

Hi my name is Harold and I'm a John Dorney completist. Take two Matt Fitton capsules and a spoonful of Eddie Robson syrup, then go to bed for 48 hours... Doctor Briggs will examine you again then!

One doesn't need to know the TV series but it doesn't hurt and honestly, the show was really quite effective.

I've been rewatching the TV series lately and it's brilliant. I'd recommend watching it but it's not vital to listening to the audios.

I think with the added incentive of the sale that I will get the first series of The Omega Factor tonight and give it a whirl over the weekend. Hopefully I will find it is as good as you all say it is

I haven't seen a single episode of The Omega Factor but knew a bit about it. I initially decided against buying this range but took the plunge due to the sale. I bought both series and the audiobook and I'm glad I did cause the first episode was a lot spookier than I was expecting. Anything with Louise Jameson is worth listening (Survivors is a prime example). Hopefully the rest of the series is as good.

Just finished this and I have to say that I loved it. I definitely think that you don't need to have watched the T.V show. All the episodes were really great, however I think it just kept getting better as it went on. Both Louise Jameson and dorney were top notch and the sound design really helped the creepiness.

I bought Series 1 and Series 2 with the Halloween sale and just finished Series 1. I have not seen the TV show at all. These first 4 stories were great with wonderful acting by all involved.
There was one story element which seemed a bit off, though. It seemed more time was taking place between the first story and the 4th than was entirely consistent. Maybe I missed something, but I thought Doyle put Anne Reynolds under a shorter timeline than was followed. Adam's timeline was more consistent - I think he said he was going to be there a number of weeks. (Was it explained where he was staying and how his stay was paid for?) Just minor details, but these things do niggle at the back of my mind.

I am listening to Series 2, but one thing hit me - a few times dorney 's voice as Adam reminds me of Paul McGann. Anyone else think get this feeling?

Just finished Series one and i loved it a very dark show...and a great reintroduction into the show,Mr Dorney and Louise are excellent in their roles and the atmosphere of creepiness is excellently reproduced definitely one for relistens during our wet windy dark Scottish nights come to think of it during our wet windy dark Scottish summers-well apart from this year were we had that freak weather, most people call sunshine. Will wait a week before i start series two just as you would in the old days
