Interesting... I wonder what that means?

I found this one had quite a lot going on and at times I thought that the various elements got in each others way. Maybe they will have more baring as the trilogy goes on, but I wasn't enthralled with this release. I think there should have been more emphasis on the Master interacting with the children.

This story was a good reminder of just how great Geoffrey Beevers is at playing the Master. I really can't wait to hear him interact with the Alex MacQueen Master in June.

So, assuming that the Doctor was correct about this being in between Deadly Assassin and Keeper of Traken for the Master, what does it mean now that we know that the Master was already possessing a human body in Keeper of Traken? Does that mean that Ainley was actually a Time Lord mind in a human body possessing a Trakenite? And then, after the warp core took away Tremas' body, was the Master back to just being a human? So let me get this straight: the Master successfully regenerates at the end of DA into Gordon Tipple, takes the Death Worm Morphant because it was a one-shot regeneration, posssses Eric Roberts and gets sucked into the Eye of Harmony. he then escapes as a gas and possesses a series of bodies, each of which progressively become the Zombeevers. Eventually he gets his TARDIS back, goes to Odessa, meets some rocket men, runs a death match etc and eventually goes to Traken. (he gets infected by the Cheetah planet, gets cured by the Tzun who lie about removing the Trakenite DNA, instead they simply restore his Time Lord regenerative ability). the Warp Core eventually destroys the Trakenite DNA but not the Time Lord, leaving the Zombeevers again. Potentially, it burns through his regenerative ability as well. Sensing the Time War and needing soldiers, the Time Lords bribe the Master with a new set of regenerations cue McQueen, Jacobi, Simm and Gomez.

Pratt Tipple Roberts The Glorious DeadBeevers Ainley Rathbone (because First Frontier) Beevers McQueen Jacobi Simm Gomez And-- Ow! Ow, ow, ow! Ouch. That could actually work. It's a doozy to get your head around though.

That would be fascinating, positioning the TV movie between DA and Traken. Plus it opens up the possibility of a Gordon Tipple Master in other stories. If it was a successful regeneration he could have had that body hundreds of years.

I'm pretty sure that for the Master, the stories go
Terror of the Autons and all the Delgado episodes The Master somehow loses the Delgado body Deadly Assassin Trail of the White Worm/Oseidon Adventure Light at the End The Evil One Requiem for the Rocket Men/Death Match And You Will Obey Me (the Master becomes human) Keeper of Traken Logopolis Castrovalva Smoke and Mirrors Time Flight The King's Demons Planet of Fire Mark of the Rani The Ultimate Foe The End of the Line Survival The Master tries to steal the Scream and loses Tremas' body Dust Breeding Master The Master becomes Gordon Tipple, obtains the Morphant Death worm thing, and is exterminated The TV Movie Mastermind The Master gets a new Time Lord body Unit: Dominion Dark Eyes The Master fights in the Time War, regenerates into Derek Jacobi, and uses a chameleon arch to become Prfessor Yana Utopia Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords End of Time The Master eventually regenerates into Missy Missy's Season 8 cameos Dark Water/Death in Heaven The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar
This way, the Master's time line syncs up with the Doctor with only a couple of exceptions, and there are only a few times when we have no idea how the Master got a new body.

That's a super cool and creative idea (which actually fits with everything), but it would almost certainly be contradicted by future stories written by people who didn't know the timeline.

If you really want to set the cats amongst the canon pigeons, Beevers refers to McQueen as a PREVIOUS incarnation.

No no, the Monk is a post-Pratt, pre-Tipple, post-McQueen, Pre-Beevers Master! and the War Chief is the Rani.

You know there's also the theory that Missy takes place before the Time War...

I would say it is very unlikely though.

You know there's also the theory that Missy takes place before the Time War... She talks about the Doctor saving Gallifrey from the Time War, and about how it is in another dimension. Missy is definitely post Time War.

The whole point of The Deadly Assassin was him trying to gain access to The Eye of Harmony... after being found nearly dead on Terserus. So that kind of shuts down the TVM -> Deadly Assassin theory.
Also, the novelization of The Keeper of Traken can be interpreted to suggest that he first got the whole body stealing ability from the events of Keeper in the first place, which dovetails with Mastermind's wording on the death worm morphant only allowing him to survive in a viscous/gaseous form after 'death'.
I'm convinced that Jago & Litefoot 11 is going to be post-TVM, with ancient mesmeric Master who can create thralls, turn into a mist, and drain the life from you inspiring Stoker's Dracula, as Bram's in at least one of the episodes of the set.
