Another Warehouse Clearance Sale
Regards
mark687 It's not necessary to post that here. This thread is for posting things that are OOP. I'm sure everyone saw your original thread announcing the sale.

Still not convinced it was necessary. When there's something to update, we can update it.

There really is no need when the same information is already in multiple threads within the same section of the board. We've asked people in the past to refrain from making the same post across multiple threads.

We've asked people in the past to refrain from making the same post across multiple threads. Well, this is the thread where I saw the info because it's a longterm thread I check regularly.
As a result, I was in time to pick up Blake's 7 series 2, so thanks for the post Mark.

However, we moderators are trying to discourage the habit some posters have of posting the same news in 3 or more threads. I would suggest checking the BF updates thread to get news like this. And Mark did also create a separate thread with the same news. I stand by my assertion that it was unnecessary to post it here as well as several other places.

Further to this, we have received complaints from members over such repeated posted and others have told us that they do not feel comfortable posting news items due to the perception that there are designated people who are supposed to handle that. As such, the moderation team is considering how to address those complaints in such a way to ensure that everyone feels comfortable posting, whether it be news items or opinions.

Overnight (for those of us in the UK) The Doomsday Manuscript, Destiny Of The Doctor : Babblesphere and Gallfrey : Insurgency joined the list of the OOP.
The following are now out of print (as of midnight UK time) :
Benny Books: The Doomsday Manuscript Collected Works Missing Adventures Old Friends Adorable Illusion Filthy Lucre
Treasure Island Dalek War Chapter 1 Dalek War Chapter 3 Dalek Empire - The Survivors Dalek Empire - The Future Dalek Empire - Fearless Part 2 Dalek Empire - Fearless Part 4 Doctor Who - The Next Life Doctor Who - The Harvest Doctor Who - The Game Doctor Who - Memory Lane Doctor Who - Valhalla Doctor Who - I.D. Doctor Who - Babblesphere Doctor Who - Smoke and Mirrors Doctor Who - Trouble in Paradise Doctor Who - Seven Keys to Doomsday Gallifrey - Pandora Gallifrey - Insurgency Gallfrey - Fractures Gallifrey - Warfare Graceless Series 02 Sherlock Holmes - The Last Act Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Sherlock Holmes - Hound of the Baskervilles Pathfinder Legends - Shifting Sands
With just Shockwave and Enemy Aliens left in print I'd wager Destiny Of The Doctor might be the first to go completely OOP from this sale, with Series 1 and 3 of Dalek Empire in hot pursuit and the first three Gallifreys hard on their heels. 😊

As such, the moderation team is considering how to address those complaints in such a way to ensure that everyone feels comfortable posting, whether it be news items or opinions. Well, I do not feel comfortable now knowing that we have members who think it is proper to complain secretly to the mods that someone else is too helpful and too ready to post updates, news and the like.
Such private reporting should imo be used only for the sort of internet nastiness of which DU is thankfully free - to use it to complain that another member is too active (and active in ways intended to be wholly positive) is, at best, snowflakery of a considerable degree. At worst, such secret reporting of mere 'uncomfortableness' with nothing more than "over-activity" feels to me the sort of thing one might expect in the People's Republic of Divergia, not a liberal forum where we presumably all believe in freedom of speech.
If people think any member is really too active in any area, to the detriment of others, then let them have the courage and honesty to say so politely and openly. Or better still, let them contribute posts themselves and be welcomed for doing so. To me, DU feels an inclusive and welcoming forum and it has done since I was a very new member; people who had (and have) far more knowledge of BF and Who that I do were welcoming and friendly in response to my newbie posts and this told me that I had found the right 'home' for sharing my enjoyment of the Whoniverse.
However, I no longer post news items or updates following earlier 'complaints' about the running joke that was (non-existent) Updates Club. I put that down to a difference in senses of humour, which is always a possible issue online, and changed my behaviour accordingly.
At present I am still comfortable posting my opinions, so I have.

I agree with you and feel the same. I am a very honest and direct person and appreciate if others do the same. However, I am also aware that some people are petty and others are not really that thoughtful. Some people I know just enjoy complaining. I assume most of these „complainants“ did mean nothing by this and had no bad intent. I personally am happy about the updates here and although sometimes it is a bit overkill, it has never annoyed me. I am also VERY happy that these are the issues people complain about here and there is nothing more serious or toxic going on. We should feel blessed. And so far, I never felt uncomfortable on here. I hope you continue to feel that way, too. You know at least you can always talk frank to me. If that helps in any way.
