I am surprised no one is playing “who goes next” and speculating which title will disappear next...
I am going to guess... THE MERVYN STONE MYSTERIES: THE AXEMAN COMETH
I was disappointed that it evidently didn’t sell enough to warrant more audios. But works perfectly well as a one off release - highly recommended for only £2 It deserves to go OOP

And the way the forum highlights 'activity' only recognises new posts added to a thread, not old posts modified. So it's a lot easier to keep up with a fast-moving thread where multiple people are updating if there are new posts for each item - not the lists so much. Otherwise you'd have to search the posts of anyone who has posted an update to see if they'd edited it to post another update.
And frankly, an extra post or two doesn't use many resources. It's not like forum wall space was made from rainforest timber. Or from anything at all in fact. More nothing is still nothing. (As many of my posts prove. I'll get that obvious one in first. ) That's true, to get the latest news you would need a new post rather than a re-edit that gets buried but I think the points the guys are making above about post counts and having to be seen to be the news-guy mere seconds after anything, no matter how minor, happens are valid. My best mate is on an I.T. forum as he has been in that industry well over 20 years.. the moderators on that particular forum actually blocked the post counts from view to try and quell this.. They also set up the forum so you can only post after a certain amount of time. Not reply post/reply post endlessly with mere seconds in between. Imagine that on here.. Heads would explode HAHAHA

His success rate is high, so even though he doesn’t write for BF regularly you know you’re in for a treat when he does.

On the other hand it's sometimes a seemingly minor bit of news that interests me, depending on the product. For example, on 'Jenny' recently it was news posts about guest cast announcements which tipped the balance for me to pre-ordering. Another time it could be an update to the synopsis, a writer's name added, or a new trailer. Even (oh, the fan in me) the cover art!
Often I'm not interested in random bits of news, sometimes I'm very interested. So I guess I'd say: please post everything new and I'll filter manually as I scan a thread. It's messy sometimes and can lead to repetitive posts but I can't think of any better way?
(I'm usually too slow to be the 'news guy' anyway but of course that has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion. +1 post count. )

How about having a master post, then when an update comes in putting it in a new post? When another update comes in transfer the previous update onto the master post, delete the previous update post and put a new post with the new update. It keeps the post count the same while Proboards recognises a new post, and marks the thread as having a new post.

It's a big part of the piece. Yet we've gotten updates about Nick's beard.....does anyone care? Just copying and pasting everything BF and those that are major players for them post is the issue. Mods have already told people multiple times over the duration of the forum not to post the same thing in multiple threads yet it happens every day. They've also asked people to check if something has been posted first yet that doesn't matter because within 10 seconds of a tweet three people are already posting because God forbid someone else does first.

The only things I post in the podcast thread are what is relevant directly to the podcast. Any news goes on the updates thread only, and that’s one post once a week.
To liken it to a meeting, the updates thread is the official announcements and the obscure news is the chitchat over biscuits or little sausage rolls.

I bought it at a£2.99 download and felt it was good enough to buy a Physical copy and the three books in Hardback in the last clearance sale. One of the most entertaining releases from BF since The Kingmaker. Hmm - wonder if there is a connection?

mark687 I was going to, but didn't want to be hauled up before the mods for wilful post-count inflation. {Spoiler}(+1 post count )
Off thread-topic but on discussion-topic: more or less anything can be 'news' imo. For example, a tweeted picture of a group of actors' feet (in shoes.) It was certainly news that some interesting and top secret recording was going on at BF, even though it mentioned no product.
What people had for lunch is pushing it, but it's all fun and since I don't 'do' Twitter it's interesting/entertaining to see DW/BF tweets that catch someone's eye re-posted on here.
I value all the 'news' and 'update' posts, they're a key part of what makes DU useful as well as a pleasant place to spend time and I'm grateful to everyone who posts them. Even if I didn't previously know I needed to know about the hairiness (or otherwise) of a famous chin!

It is rather fantastic. John Banks and Nicola Bryant are both excellent in it. I had really hoped as part of Big Finish Originals Mervyn Stone would have gotten a full series with a full cast.

All I am saying is that lots of people should buy this ASAP Agreed - totally. One of the best listens I have had from BF and one I have recommended and quoted to others. Who needs to go to conventions when you have Mervyn's spot on inside report?
