More and more I'm noticing that there are a lot of little news tidbits, both positive and negative, which seem not to make it to the Big Finish page itself. Sometimes they appear just on Twitter, sometimes on Facebook, sometimes on the Podcast, etc. So it seemed to me like it may be a good idea to centralize all the scattered/miscellaneous news in one place, since it seems like a lot of things fly under the radar. For instance: In the latest Podcast (May #05, pub. May 15), Nick Briggs confirmed: - Christopher Eccleston has declined their invitation to come record audios as the Ninth Doctor - Big Finish's DW licence (the most recently announced 2025 one), for whatever reason, does not include the Paternoster Gang Share 'em if you've got 'em...and please remember to include your source. It'd be nice if we could keep this verifiable, rather than "I thought I heard somewhere that..."

If Eccelston has declined to be the Doctor again, can they convince him to play Gurney Halleck in "Dune"?

I'm not saying to go snoop around their offices, mate Just collect what they're putting out there publicly but not centralizing on their main website

Like today a writer tweeted about a recording happening BF replied to them about it all tweets were public, but should they discussed elsewhere because BF had a dialogue using the official account? As opposed to Website News pieces FB Wall Posts and Podcasts which are obviously meant for public dissemination ?

I think a thread for miscellaneous news that perhaps doesn't merit a full thread is a good one.

As long as we take it with a grain of salt, or gold dust if the Cybermen come clanking.

If it was public, rather than email or text message or DM or IM or any of a bazillion private means of communication, I hardly think there's any reasonable expectation of privacy. These are accounts exist and are used for the express purpose of communicating with their fanbase, so really there's exactly zero reason to look the other way when things are being discussed openly. Which was rather the point of opening this thread.... As long as we take it with a grain of salt, or gold dust if the Cybermen come clanking. Agreed! That was my motivation behind suggesting everything be sourced, so this doesn't end up just being unfounded hearsay

Not that I've discussed this with the other mods/admins, but basically, so long as posts fit the rules, go for it.

It's all ok for me too, but I think it should be moved to the "General Big Finish" sub board Cheers Tony EDIT: In your wanderings, be careful of posting any spoiler news (or anything that could be seen as spoilers)

95% of the time, if it gets tweeted, we've permission to tweet it - so for example, I asked yesterday if I could. (And of course Doom Coalition 3 is a relatively special case of a recording everyone knows is coming up, and they know I've written one because that info is out there. But you'll notice I'm being circumspect about things like cast, and so on...

On the podcast sometimes Joe will check with Nick to make sure David Richardson is fine with what he's about to say, indicating whether it's not a spoiler it's just not been announced anywhere.

If's a post on their public Twitter then it is, by definition, public.

EDIT: In your wanderings, be careful of posting any spoiler news (or anything that could be seen as spoilers) That's actually a really good thought, and a big oversight on my part. Perhaps something to the tune of "(caution: possible spoilers)" could be added to the thread title? I'm not sure if that would be too vague, but it may be worth doing just so that there's a sort of blanket advisory before anybody pops into the thread.
