Periodically, I've been searching around for out of print Benny books that I'm missing from my collection, but I can't seem to find them for less than $100, and I'm not prepared to spend that much for them at this time. The ones I'm missing are The Squire's Crystal, The Infernal Nexus, and The Glass Prison. Wish they could be reprinted, or even republished in ebook format. I remember we had a discussion about it back at the old forum, and Jacqueline Rayner even commented about the ones she wrote, but I wonder if anything will ever come of that? I keep wishing.

Back in March I tweeted Nick Briggs asking about the possibility of BF doing reprints on the the titles that are out of print. His response was that it is something they are looking into but that there are a number of issues to tackle before they do so. He did not elaborate on what those issues could be.

On the general subject of out of print books, it strikes me that all books will eventually be available online, as ebooks and available as print of demand, the tech already exists, just needs all the books to be digitised, copyright issues to be resolved etc etc, but I'm certainly it coming, and perhaps not too far into our future.

That would be good. There are places that have some of these books for download, but I'm sure it's not legal and I'm certainly not giving my name and credit card number to an unknown entity in any case.

Assuming copyright has not expired.
Books are published works of the authors. A publishers publishes a book with the authors permission and under no other circumstances.
TV shows are productions which use the creative talents of many and as such the contracts the actors, directors, composers, writers et al get are more complex as they have to cover as many possibilities both now and into the future as possible, but for the most part enable the producer to be the copyright holder and hence able to say when and how it is broadcast etc.
But remember, it's often not that simple either for producers with great contracts, the film "Clockwork Orange" was not available in the UK for a great many years because Stanley Kubrick asked for it not to be, and the film company decided it was best not to go against his wishes.

Really with the out of print books, once Copyright and other issues are sorted they do need to do the books that are extremely important to ongoing plots and links between audios

If anyone is interested in owning a physical copy of Professor Bernice Summerfield And The Glass Prison, there's one on eBay at a reasonable price. No telling for how long, though.

I got a notification from eBay about the availability of some Benny books. Some of them are ridiculously priced, but some might be within the price range of some people here. Looking at the prices people are asking for some of those books make me feel as though I'm sitting on a gold mine here with my collection.
