Another thread from the Big Finish forums being transferred here.
This afternoon/evening I watched X-Men Days of Future Past The Rogue Cut and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Man the face melting scene was scary!

REC : Apocalypse. A great end to the series The Blob (1988). Man that's gory lol, some surprising deaths as well The ABC'S of Death. I like this a lot, short and sharp and doesn't outstay its welcome I think

The wife wanted to see Babadook, so I sat in on it and once more confirmed that horror just isn't for me: it doesn't work. It did a decent to good job with the set-up, but then it did what almost every horror movie I've seen do: it showed the monster. For me, that instantly kills whatever suspense may have been building. And then of course, there was a standard possession scene.
We would have vastly preferred a pure psychological horror flick, where the "monster" is never shown because maybe there IS NO monster; we'd have particularly liked it if it was about the woman spiraling into insanity between all the stress in her life, her odd son, and sleep deprivation...... and that the ending would be her being arrested for the murder of her son.
Instead, it turned into a traditional horror flick with a relatively happy ending. Still, it was not quite as terrible as Elysium, which marshalled so many standard cliches and tropes and which was written solely sell a political message. Yes, sci-fi traditionally touches on various social themes, but it was just too much for me in Elysium. Perhaps that was because of how poorly I felt it was written.

Haven't watched it yet, but I picked up a copy of "Cromwell" today (Richard Harris & Alec Guiness). Unfortunately I have to wait for the weekend to have time to enjoy it.

The Theory of Everything
Very good not sure if it was an award worthy performance though.

Firefly, Serenity. The Reavers are as scary as they are made out to be. Why on earth did Fox have to screw the show over? It's so good!

Tombstone, with Kurt Russell, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliot, Michael Biehn, Michael Rooker, Powers Boothe and many, many more. I think I read somewhere that Kevin Costner was meant to have been in this as well, but left so he could make his own version ie Wyatt Earp
Rock of Ages. Gotta love some Hard Rock Musical cheese

I always thought that it was a shame it wasn't on the Sci Fi channel in it's early days. It would have been around the time the channel acquired Stargate SG-1 and was an exciting place for great, new science fiction TV. I think it would have been one of it's most successful shows and would have had a nice, long life along with the aforementioned SG-1, and then a short time later Battlestar Galactica. Maybe in an alternate dimension that show had 10 seasons.

I saw both He Named me Malala and Bridge of Spies this weekend.
Malala is getting mixed reviews but I really liked it
As for Bridge of Spies it was also very good especially the 2nd part. But I did think it was a bit too long.
