Dirty Cops (French oddly toned drama. 2 cops trying to infiltrate the Mafia find their way in through a failing Pornography Studio, however they realize they can actually make the most money from it by arresting the Mafia and making the studio as legitimate as possible. I say its oddly toned because there is a couple of very dark LOL moments in it.) Regards mark687 Wouldn't that make it black comedy? Nothing odd about that kind of tone.

But its not strictly a black Comedy its a drama that has the odd comic moment depending on the viewer's humour.

Ad Astra. One of the most boring films I have ever seen. I don't find any car adverts that exciting tbh...
EDIT: Realised that joke will not travel successfully beyond the UK car market. Oh well it wasn't that good a joke anyway!

mark687 Lol Die Hard is the ultimate Christmas movie & still one of the best action films ever made, nobody holds candle to Alan Rickmans Hans Gruber "he won't be joining us for the rest of his life". Watching Happy Death Day 2 U later glad to hear it's decent.

The Blue Knight- 1973 TV adaptation of Joseph Wambaugh’s novel of the same name starring William Holden and Lee Remick. That this was broadcast on a major American TV network in prime time astonishes me. It is as bleak and nihilistic a look at the life of a beat cop as I can imagine. Wambaugh was still a member of the Los Angeles PD at the time and the small observations have the ring of truth. At three hours long it is at times a slog but Holden sells every moment of it. A pristine looking blu-ray from Warner Archive.

Yeah i agree, the killer reveal wasn't as strong as the original but it was entertaining thanks to Jessica Rothe performance as Tree.

Ford Vs. Ferrari
Excellent film. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I didn't realize the running time was so long, but I didn't even notice. Highly recommended.

The Shining - One of those classic films where like 80% of the scenes have become so iconic, everyone knows them whether they've watched the film or not. It's a very good movie, a very poor adaptation. We are missing a lot of cool things from the book, but the film adds a lot of new cool things as well. Generally speaking, while Kubrick's particular quirks were well suited to 2001, I can't help but think it's not the case for this material. I have my issues with Jack Nicholson's performance, and I think the movie has pacing problems; it could do with an overall trimming of fat.
Apparently Kubrick agreed, I found out that European release is half an hour shorter than the North American cut. I've never seen the Euro version, but maybe that would allay my gripes.
