Captain Marvel Not what I expected. Found the begining slighty confusing but once it got going found it very enjoyable.

Last night I watched Attack the Block, really interesting alien invasion comedy/ horror staring pre-Star Wars John Boyega and pre-Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker 😀 I like the very ordinary setting of a Croydon London apartment block and that it subverts the expectations of seemingly stereotypical teenage gang with them trying to save everyone in the apartment building from an alien invasion. The alien design is so unique, they are like pitch black gorilla/dog things with massive bioluminescent blue fangs😧 I also love the relationship with the gang and the woman they mugged at the start of the film (Jodie Whittaker) and how they join forces against the aliens😊 I also love the editing and how well it fits with both the suspense and how well it moves with our (anti) heros as well! All in all a good watch!😀
On a side note, oddly enough, this is the second movie that I have scene where aliens visit Croydon, the other being Neil Gaiman’s How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Are aliens in Croydon a thing? Are there other works with aliens in Croydon? Is this like a sub-genre? It seems like such an odd coincidence to have two movies with aliens in Croydon if not🤔😄

If aliens ever do arrive in Croydon they should just blow it up! Why? I used to go out with someone who lived in Croydon. It's a dump.

Well, it snowed for a good chunk of the day, and then the city workers didn't get off their asses to plow the streets until a few hours after the snow stopped (this is particularly egregious as I live downtown, like 3 blocks from city hall). So I pretty much just sat on the couch all day watching movies. Zombieland: Double Tap - Definitely not as good as the first one, but still an enjoyable sequel with a few laugh out loud moments. Murder on the Orient Express (1974) - Prior to now I'd only seen the remake, which I liked, and I enjoyed this one too. The remake and this one have very different approaches to the same story, and I appreciate both. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood - I'm really puzzled that I was bored with this. I'm a big fan of most things QT does, even the stuff other people hate -- a lot of people complained that Hateful Eight was boring, but I loved it. But this one, oh man, felt like it would never end. Three bits to its credit though (I'll spoiler tag because it's a recent film) : {Spoiler}1. The bit with Brad Pitt at the Manson Family compound. The tension in that sequence was brilliant, edge-of-the-seat stuff. 2. Almost as good a tension was the bit where Leo's character comes out to yell at the Manson kids in the car 3. Margot Robbie. Even though she didn't have a huge amount to do, her performance was brilliant. Terminator: Dark Fate - I seem to be the odd man out here, but I actually rather enjoyed this. Don't get me wrong, it's still easily the poorest of the three Cameron Terminator movies, but I thought it was respectable enough in its own way and had a number of well done set pieces; I don't think it deserved to flop as badly as it did. I think this movie might've actually been pretty well-received as the third Terminator movie, if there hadn't been 38 failed reboots before now.

Bad Boys For Life, a good film ruined by a jump the shark ending, i didn't buy that twist one bit, took me out the film undid the good work of the previous 90 minutes.
This was getting a 4/5 until that twist now it gets 2/5.

The Force Awakens and The Last JediI've always liked The Force Awakens to some extent. Even though I felt like it had wasted a lot of potential back in 2015 by basically being Star Wars' greatest hits, when I re-watch it in that light I can enjoy it a lot more than as 'a new Star Wars movie'. I didn't particularly like The Last Jedi when I first saw it, so much so that this is only the second time I've actually seen it, and I have to say that the two year gap has softened my opinion somewhat. This one actually has some really great moments in it (Luke teaching Rey what the Force is, for instance), and I don't hate the casino plot line as some do. I think it's a great representation of how hopeless and futile their resistance seems. No matter what they did, they seemed forever destined to fail. It makes the movie feel almost real. How many times do ordinary people do everything they can to help improve things only for their efforts to come to absolutely nothing? For me, it's probably the realest part of the film. As that statement suggests though, there are some major flaws in the story logic. The whole concept of running out of fuel in space is just ridiculous. You're engines can only go so fast, so the moment you're at maximum velocity you shouldn't be consuming any fuel whatsoever. Just switch the engines off. It's not like you're going to slow down! For me, a flaw like that seriously undermines the credibility of the story, as the suspense is entirely engineered and not based on anything in reality. A story that exist purely because because someone wanted a story to exist is one of the greatest sins any form of storytelling in any form of media can make. Make a story that makes sense for reasons that are credible, otherwise don't waste your time. I'll round off by saying that I don't actually hate The Last Jedi. I don't think it's necessarily bad as such either, but it's kind of pointless. I'd easily choose any of the other main Star Wars movies over it (including the prequels which I actually really like ), but I wouldn't actively go out of my way to avoid it. This re-watch was all in aid of my (hopefully) seeing The Rise of Skywalker tomorrow, so hopefully that will provide a slightly more coherent and reasonable narrative than The Last Jedi. I've avoided all spoilers for it (astonishingly) so I'm going in very open-minded

Bad Boys for Life Not as good as the first one but a lot better than the second. Though they could have cut one of the subplots
