The biggest issue I see is that any comic is inherently a visual medium. Now, whilst I'd love a Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye audio from Big Finish (McQueen as Whirl, Davison as Cyclonus, Tennant in full sugar puppy mode as Rodimus etc) it will never happen as its too reliant on the visual media.

And yet, BF have built themselves on being the little company that could. Lest we forget, they're currently adapting Avengers comics for audio, and the preview actually sounds pretty nice. However, who would be Optimus? Maybe Beevers as Megatron?

Given that Optimus isn't in MTMTE, Prime shouldn't be a problem (however, if he turns up, it should be Peter Cullen), and Megatron ... Well the lyrical but broken quality of Beevers voice would fit the IDW Megatron (who prior to rebellion and mass genocide was a published author of poetry as well as rhetoric) especially as he appears in MTMTE as a broken figure seeking a form of redemption, but like Prime, Megatron should be Frank Welker.

In theory, it shouldn't be a problem. In Japan there are many audio dramas based on series (which does open up the option of translating existing Japanes stories for Weatern fans)
The 2 big problems:- 1) buying the rights - may be expensive for current series, may be difficult to identify who owns the rights in some cases 2) the market - how big is the market? most people in Britain and America choose to ignore the 99% of manga and anime which does not feature sex and/or extreme violence. The Shonen fighting series (like Dragonball and Naruto) would be hard to feature without considerably changing the tone from the series as fighting does not work well on audio. Seiyuu fans may be put off by the absence of the Japanese cast.
Examples of series that might work well (but probably wouldn't get a good enough audience) Horror - Vampire princess Miyu, Tomie Young romance/fantasy - Kimagure Orange Road, Fruits basket Comedy - Azumanga Daioh, Bobobobo Bobobo, Ghost Sweeper Mikami Detective - Young Kindaichi files, Case Closed and not forgeting Death Note, Attack on Titan, Magical Girl Apocalypse

In fact, DN was one of the first suggestion on the original BF thread. Fruits Baskets would be cute but not really in the genre-centric market BF is geared towards, and well, where would you even start with Dragonball or Titan?

Really?!? Sorry I missed it! Nice to know I'm not the only one. Of course I'm no lawyer so I might be completely mistaken, but Harmony Gold's been able to make new comics and novels using the Macross characters, so I would imagine that would apply to audios as well. And even if it didn't, there are only legal issues with the Macross part; they could do stories centered around the Southern Cross or Mospeada portions with no problems at all. Plus as I mentioned before, there's always room for side stories in the same universe with new characters. As for the Sony movie deal, there's been so little reported on that I can't even begin to speculate on what affect it could have on anything. Any BF cast picks? Nah, I'm no good at that kind of recasting. Ideally I'd like something new that's set in Britain so Big Finish would be free to create new characters. Just off the top of my head you could start with someone discovering the cover-up of the disappearance of the SDF-1 and realizing Earth has been attacked by aliens; the next story could be after the Zentraedi Rain of Death with them being a part of the rebuilding (and that would be a chance to bring in one of the original voice actors as a guest star); then a story or two showing the impact of the Second Robotech War on everything they've tried to rebuild, and then close it off with two stories set during the Invid Invasion. That way we'd get the entire saga from an Earth-centric perspective with the same characters growing older, as opposed to changing casts with each new generation. Plus the advantage of original characters is no one is bullet proof, which increases the drama. Hmm. The way I've laid it out would actually make a nice six-CD series, like Torchwood or Blake's 7.

I think BF tackling Psycho-Pass could be interesting. A cerebral sci-fi procedural dealing with the human mind and a society entirely dependent on a central computer? Could work. Get Paul and India as the two leads and hey, that's my 40 quid in Nick's coffers.

The other day I remembered Empire of Corpses, the first film in the Project Itoh series. Basic gist: imagine a mix of Holmes, Frankenstein, 1984 and James Bond with a dash of Flashman.
... How did Big Finish not think of this first?!

In fact, DN was one of the first suggestion on the original BF thread. Fruits Baskets would be cute but not really in the genre-centric market BF is geared towards, and well, where would you even start with Dragonball or Titan? My main comment about Dragonball is that we would not want a "Typical" Dragonball Z story released as a 4 disc box set with a fight starting on the first disc and continuing through to the final disc... character-based stories in between the fights could work Case Closed has the problem that it is a very succesful series in Japan which could push up the cost of the rights (and I would be dissapointed by the absence of "Waka-chan") One other factor which should be considered is that of USP - a series should only piucked because of it's fame/popularity (i.e. marketability) or the unique/unusual ideas it brings for story telling (preferably a combination of marketability and uniqueness). Kindaichi should probably be dismissed as a possibility because of this as it's not famous enough outside of Japan to sell on it's name and it's easy enough to create a different schoolboy detective for the series. On the other hand, the concepts of Death Note and Attack on Titan are strong enough to be used for stories with original characters set earlier or in different locations (Or Death Note's L could be featured in earlier investigations)

Shoulda mentioned Fullmetal Alchemist. Pulpy sci-fi fantasy with a myriad of characters, monsters and arcs? Yep, right up BF's alley. Possible casting is a little trickier... some definites off the top of my head: Peter Davison could be Hohenheim, has the right kind of wearied, paternal voice. Sort of fittingly, Sarah Sutton has a warmth and maternal element that fits Trisha. Sophie Aldred as Hawkeye. Tough lady, good with weapons - she fits. Paul McGann as Fuhrer Bradley. He could easily pull off charming yet commanding and respectable. Janet Fielding as Izumi. Definitely got the... vocality and temper for the part. Nicholas Briggs as Scar. Can do brooding and his voice, as we all know, has a lot of presence. And Tom Baker as Father Cornello, if only as a nod to his origins as a monk and diehard Catholic. After some time, came up with some more BF Fullmetal cast thoughts: Chase Masterson as Lust. Vienna proved she can do sexy yet resilient. Mark Strickson as Mustang. Has presence and could have fun with the fire material. Carol Ann Ford as Granny Rockbell. Be fun to see her let loose! Lisa Bowerman as Olivia Armstrong. Another strong fiercely independent woman who doesn't take rubbish from anyone. Maybe India Fisher as Winry, she can certainly pull off the age and intelligence.

Anybody else? Anyone want to chime in? Not even for a Super Saiyan Nick? Disc three of a four disc release is just the leads grunting and moaning as their characters power up.

The multitude of parallel timelines in Steins Gate would be a great fit, and allow for any number of possible boxset arcs and themes.

I have never sought out manga, and to be explicit I have never read or watched any manga of any sort, ignoring my thoughts on it, the style just doesn't appeal, but then I've never read or been a fan of any comic stuff (of any style except Beano etc) even on the big screen. Pity. There was one that was just released that would be perfect for Big Finish, and is tamer in certain things, for lack of a better term: The Ghost and The Lady. A story about young Florence Nightingale on the ground in the Crimean War who finds herself face to face with many forms of death and, of course, spectres. Ties into the infamous Black Museum.

It's difficult to pick one that'd suit the audio medium...
I suppose I'm still waiting on that third season of Spice and Wolf.

Just read a two part manga called The Ghost and The Lady. A sort of supernatural take on the story of Florence Nightingale. I kept having India's voice play when she spoke.

Crazily enough, I kinda want BF to do Dragon Ball audios, as weird as it sounds. Not necessarily action stories, but character development stuff - prequels to the series.
