Yet, not impossible to have Missy regenerate, see a face of Delgado, and cgi some movement, and closing titles!!! Don't be daft, of course that's POSSIBLE, but pointless because you're effectively ending the Master if you do that. The master has ended before!

I'm confused. Are you saying you want Missy to regenerate into Delgado, or are you sayig that Moffat is stupid and will totally do something ridiculous like having Missy regenerate into Delgado?

Don't you watch Doctor Who? Of course. I was just saving you the bother of using exclamations when you replied. Which worked.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I'd rather the Master be in his decayed form, he was much more frightening in Deadly Assassin with his skeletal remains & cloak. My headcanon is that when he escaped from Gallifrey after Deadly Assassin he landed on Traken and was trapped: I think the Master's first priority after failing to get a new regeneration cycle would be a new body - those burns have got to hurt! Actually, wouldn't it make sense to get a new "temporary" body before going to Gallifrey? Or would he need "pure" Gallifreyan DNA to activate a new cycle?

BF has kind of confirmed that that isn't the case though. Immediately after Deadly Assassin he went to Victorian England to bug Jago and Litefoot, and then he had a bunch more encounters with Four before going to Traken.

The Master has battled the Seventh Doctor in his emaciated form it's implied his stolen bodys decay over time.

The Master has battled the Seventh Doctor in his emaciated form it's implied his stolen bodys decay over time. Thanks for the clarification - as is patently obvious, I haven't listened to everything in the BF range in regards to DW - in fact I would be surprised if I've made it to 1/4 of it.

Well, given that Roger Delgado is dead, I don't think Moffat would be able to do that even if he wanted to. Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee are dead, yet all appeared in NOTD!! In a tasteful manner.

If you get chance check out the excellent Companion Chronicles Mastermind, it clarifies a few things about the Master.

Cameos. Main cast don't cameo. Delgado could appear but as his incarnation in a cameo. Yet, not impossible to have Missy regenerate, see a face of Delgado, and cgi some movement, and closing titles!!! Don't give Moffat any ideas Paul he may actually do it.

Is there anything to say that A) Delgrado was the 13th Master or B) That Missy couldn't be number 12? We never did see Simm regenerate...(not sure I get some of the complaints about Missy, since when was Simm's Master subtle...)

I guess my complaint about Missy (besides the name) is that everything I seem to remember her for seems somehow out of character for The Master, so it's harder to take her seriously even when I think Michelle Gomez does a great job. I often wonder if enough care was really put into developing the character, so basically the same complaint I have with River although I adore the character and Alex Kingston is of course awesome - I just don't seem to be sure enough often enough what direction the character is really pointing in (whereas unless he's been possessed outright, I can be pretty sure what The Doctor is all about).
I was wondering if maybe I just have a harder time taking renegade Time Lords seriously if they're female, but I watched Mark of the Rani again last night on this account and it's really the same thing - not really any trouble with taking Kate O'Mara's performance or character seriously enough, even side-by-side with Ainley, but it's the writing I struggle with.
What the Rani is up to (in that case scientifically, which seems like a dicey premise) conveys a sense of deficient premeditation, so I don't think she comes across well for me in that story as the formidable genius she's supposed to be. Could just be me, I have a quirk where I don't mind if writers just make up the science completely but it troubles me if they seem to be overwriting existing science, but Mark of the Rani I can almost blame on it being the 80s. The interesting fact does emerge though that some of my minor pet New Series gripes aren't necessarily 100% restricted to the New Series.
Looking forward to hearing what Big Finish has done with the Rani following another go at Time and the Rani, and no doubts Big Finish could most likely improve on the character of Missy considerably, since they've lent an unprecedented amount of care to numerous other characters.

Eric Roberts (and the gaseous Zombeevers) are pre-McQueen (as he specifically mentions "the snake" in "The Two Masters), logically that makes Jacobi at least 15.
