Jonathan Cecil performing 'The Inimitable Jeeves' (short story collection and sheer delight from start to finish.) I say, absolutely topping P.G.Wodehouse, what?

Following on from Security Kitchen's fantastic adaptation of Time of Your Life -- The Final Game. A Doctor Who story by Studio Severn. number13 , this could be right up your alley (Three! Master! Sarah Jane! Liz! Daleks!).

And now I know about it, I'll try to get round to the Sixie story too - how could I pass up the chance to tell my browser: 'Take me to the Security Kitchen'?

For much of the latter half of this year I have had Frankie Howerd living in my head. One of the reasons for this is currently spinning in the disc drive of my desktop - the audio revival of Up Pompeii, which I was fortunate enough to be involved in, obe of thgree writers adding gags and doing edits on the script of the stage play. He's also part of a couple of other projects I've been doing this year. Really enjoying the production. Frazer Hines as Ludicrous has just made me laugh enormously. The whole cast are splendid but David benson'#s performance as Frankie Howerd as Lurcio is quite extraordinary. More than once I've forgotten that this isn't actually Frankie Howerd - and I wrote lumps of it! The whole thing reeks of love for the original. I really hope we get to do more... I've got pages and pages of dialogue scribbled in notebooks.

One question: Where do I buy this? I'm eagerly jingling my sestertii at this very moment...
EDIT: Never mind, I found it - Spiteful Puppet. Sounds fabulous!

I probably should have put a link in when I typed. Sorry about that. I hope you enjoy it. I'm gutted I wasn't able to be in the theatre to enjoy the recordings being made. Sadly it clashed with the trial of the scumbag who incompetently tried to burgle my house. However, I'm told that if you hear audience laughter, Mark Gatiss and Richard Franklin are among those exercising their chuckle muscles.

Just finished Bafflegab's latest, an adaption of The Ash Tree. Penned by MR James and adapted by Matthew Holness, this is mainly a three-hander between headstrong Rachel (Amanda Abbington), tolerant Simon (Reece Shearsmith) and oily Mr Crome (John Sessions). And, in line with Bafflegab's growing number of horror output, it is exceptional. Creepy, layered, terrific performances, with a nice eerie sound design. Highly recommended listening for these long, chilly winter nights ...

The Ash Tree - much enjoyed
And made a dint into Roald Dahl's The Witches read by Miranda Richardson. Superb so far. Richardson has the perfect voice for this.

Over several mornings at Christmas, I greatly enjoyed the audiobook of 'The Five Doctors' for the first time. I love the TV story and (since it was the first I ever had on VHS) I know it inside-out and backwards. (Or should I say: from above, between and below? )
But Jon Culshaw's magnificent performance (performance s - splendid voices, all of them ) made it seem as fresh - and fun - as I'd expected. A new take on an old favourite and a lovely way to start the day over the holidays.

Began each day over New Year by enjoying The Macra Terror audiobook performed by Anneke Wills - a pleasure to listen to as always and her character voices are excellent! Good sound design too.
The novelisation makes a few changes to the story and they mostly worked well imo - the Macra sound disgusting in text! and I liked the more thoughtful ending. The colony is freed from the Macra but will now face the usual problems of human societies. And Medok survives to see the TARDIS leave - but will never really trust people again after the way he was treated, so he keeps quiet about it.
One very odd moment when the Controller shouts (three times): 'There's no such thing as Macra-men!' Well, quite. Everywhere else in the novel, they're still just (not) Macra.

Am starting today on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - all 24 discs, read by Stephen Fry. Really looking forward to this as the pervious 4 audiobooks in this series have been great. I have never read any Potter books or seen any movies so it is all new to me.
My commute is basically just over 1 CD per day so it will take me about 4 weeks to get through. My BF backlog is up to date, except for River 7 which came on Saturday, so I can afford to take 4 weeks out of my BF schedule for this.
Will still be doing some BF via the app whilst walking the dogs and when I get a lunchtime walk at work (weather permitting)

They really are fantastic.
