Series 1 of Pilgrim this past week. Weirdly, the hymn all the episode titles are from and which one of the characters sings in the last episode was one of the ones we had in church today. (He who would valiant be)
So good, I had already heard series 3, can't wait to hear series 2.

Finished listening to the Scarifiers- Curse of the Black Comet. I think I am coming to like the Scarifiers- it is witty, funny, interesting and wonderfully absurd. And the Curse of the Black Comet has Brian Blessed as a wonderfully inept Professor Challenger type in it. And it is making fun of quite a few tropes from Indiana Jones. What is not to love? Only thing I always find grating with these audios (same with Big Finish) is the butchering of the German language. Sometimes the actors mangle the German text so much, I have not a single clue what they are saying (I am German). I think this breaks my immersion more than if they had them just speak English with a German accent. But that is just a minor nit pick which won't even matter to anyone who does not speak German.

The Five Doctors.
Obviously John Culshaw's Fourth Doctor impersonation is well known, but my goodness his Second and Third Doctors along with his Lethbridge Stewart are fantastic! When he was narrating those parts I was easily taken right back to a night in late November 1983 watching Messrs Troughton, Pertwee and Courtney on the screen in the 20th Anniversary special.
Really impressed..and now looking forward to the fifth volume of the Third Doctor Adventures even more.. 😊

Listening to the Robin of Sherwood audiobooks by Spiteful Puppet. Like the 1980s TV series, they're a great reimagining of the Robin Hood legend, mixing action and adventure with a dash of magic and pagan gods.

I'm beginning my annual listening to Tom Baker reads A Christmas Carol (purchased via the much-missed Audio Go years ago). Always completely magical. Hearing Tom snarl 'A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner' is one of the great joys of the festive season.

My favourite part is the description of all the food with the Ghost of Christmas Present, it keeps building until he gets to "Ohhhhh, the punch!"

He does such a good job with this - I can't imagine anyone else reading it.

The Scarifyers: The King of Winter
Perfect listening for the Solstice - either of them!
{Spoiler} Supernatural winter-in-summer mystery meets right Royal Panto and gives a satirical 'punch up the bracket' to Freemasonery and the more (ahem) eccentric part of the aristocracy! Brilliant! And excellent guest stars.

This evening I've been listening to John Nathan-Turner's reading of his memoirs. Whilst I'm not planning on listening to it all this evening (it's over 4hrs long), I'm enjoying it so far!

Edgar Allen Poe's 'The facts in the case of M Valdemar', courtesy of Dark Adventure Radio Theatre.
My first dip into the DART pool and on the basis of this 1/2 hour production it certainly won't be my last. A very dark tale told with a lot of affection for the style of a lost era of radio productions in the US. Loved it. 😊

Pen Pals, a comedy on BBC Wales. I found it on the app randomly.
A woman decides to go to France on a whim to look up her pen pal from a school trip, Mathieu (played by Dan Starkey). Tom Price appears as well.
It was quite funny and didn't go in the direction I was expecting.

The Scarifyers: The Thirteen Hallows - priceless, like all of them. And surprisingly Welsh! (A running joke in 'The Scarifyers'! While the Welsh part of me was especially pleased about a magical trip to Wales, needless to say, Harry Crow wasn't, the grumpy fellow! )
Sadly I now have only 'The Gnomes of Death' left to hear for the first time. More adventures please, gentlemen!
