Are the Loose Cannon reconstructions even available anymore? I have to say I enjoyed those. You need to search out El Doctor in on Daily motion. He is official Loose Cannon and the quality of his uploads is awesome, whereas previous uploaders have used YouTube rips (YouTube bandwidth is not as good as DailyMotion) I found an ElDoctorio (who I'm apparently following and forgot about it!). Is that the same thing? Seems to be Loose Cannon. Also, are you sure all prior uploaders used Youtube rips? You used to be able to obtain the recordings directly from Loose Cannon by sending them a blank videotape, from what I understand. Though I guess a videotape converted to digital might also lose quality in the transition.

Some of the previous uploads could have been VHS rips, but they'd be ripped from copies of the dub-sites copies of the masters. You can normally tell them by lots of lines on the screen and juddering when the captions scroll. Eldoctorio is using the original master recordings. I've downloaded them and burnt them to DVD, they're beautiful.

I know how to download video content from Youtube (and have used it for non-copyright material only), but no idea how to do it from DailyMotion.

My video converting software has anew Internet download function which supports DailyMotion (sometimes, DailyMotion seem to make regular changes to block such downloaders)

I like listening to the TV soundtrack audios, even if the story isn't missing. (It's great being able to drive up/down a motorway listening to a proper Doctor Who story from the old days.) I also prefer the missing episode soundtrack CDs to animation as my minds eye is often more pleasing. Also with the CDs, sometimes the stories work better if you can't see the visual failings, especially in some of those from the 60's. Although the box set above, "Classic TV Adventures" is just a repackaging of individually released stories from a few years ago, as I have most of those CDs. But the box set is good value for money for anyone wanting to buy them all now.

There wayyyyyyyyyyy to expensive, £75 per box set of Lost Tv Soundtracks is blatant greed, £30 would be a more reasonable fair price.

I've been tempted to pick these up for quite a while now, but they are so damn expensive that making that initial plunge, sight unseen (or sound unheard, if you will) has been a bit of a difficult hurdle for me to clear. So has anyone here purchased any of these sets, and if so, do you recommend them? Is the mix of narration and original audio well done? How well do they actually work as an audio experience, story wise? Any thoughts or opinions on the subject are most welcome. Cheers. i'm a little late to the party here, but I am here, so here. I got series 4 in a big lot late last year, and have already listened to them all twice, I really enjoy them, and always keep an eye out for them at lower prices on ebay. But no luck yet. The bridging narration in most of this series is by Frazer Hines with a little by Polly(I cant ever spell Anneka). And the audio itself is pretty good. If you can find them cheap, I would recommend them, but not at the 60 bucks American they are asking for.

I have no problem paying $60 bucks for them, it is the regular price which tends to be around $120 on both Amazon and Book Depository that causes me to hold off. I got the last set I was missing on a Black Friday sale from Amazon for under $60 - very happy I waited. Those who want them would be well advised to keep an eye on both Amazon and Book Depository as they will drop the prices by anywhere from 20 to 50% at various times.

I remember purchasing these when the fourth box set was released & paid £35 per set, now they charging double per set which is plain greedy.

That's roughly $60 Canadian - but I agree, what they currently have as the regular price is a ripoff. Thankfully you can get them for a reasonable price if you are willing to wait for sales.

Great news for anyone who (like me) enjoys the 'lost' episode soundtracks but can't complete their set at anything like a reasonable price.
In March 2019, Doctor Who: The Lost TV Episodes Collection One will be available on Audible (usual thing, 1 credit for the item): 'Marco Polo', 'The Reign of Terror', 'The Crusade', 'Galaxy 4', 'The Myth Makers' with linking narration by William Russell, Carole Ann Ford and Peter Purves (plus interviews.)
I'm hoping that the other sets will follow at intervals (as the five-book collections of the Target audiobooks are doing bi-monthly. If you don't mind DRM then these bundles are bargains and I do enjoy having old favourites read to me by our favourite actors and others. And getting to hear the rare titles at very reasonable cost.)

That's quite a nice deal on Audible! These normally can be a bit pricey, but for one credit that's a good chunk of entertainment value.

I'm hoping we get all the sets over time - it's the Troughton stories I need, mostly, but I'll definitely collect all of them in Audible form to fill every gap and for the collection interviews.

THe Christmas the last set came out, they were all £35 on Amazon and I snapped up the lot, as did Timelord007 when I posted on the old BF board about them. They're wonderful releases, with the re-done ones much better now with much more dynamic narration. Especially for fans of audio this will be the way some will want to have the missing eps. As much as I love them I do still prefer the Loose Cannon recons to experience the stories but when I had to commute to Edinburgh for a summer these were great for doing a full Hartnell and Troughton revisit.

Thanks Davy, I hadn't realised these collections weren't simply bundles of the original individual releases. Even better.
For anyone who like me doesn't have these collection boxsets, I've just found the first set will be re-released on CD in March in addition to the Audible release! (£28 currently for the CDs which is great value and a no-brainer imo.)
Hopefully re-releases of all the other sets will follow at intervals.
