I think Benny would have a big problem with River's flirting.

I don't. Benny can be quite a flirt herself.
I think it'd be a riot for the two of them to meet.

If this doesn't happen someday in the future, I will be very disappointed. I mean, it practically writes itself, it's that great an idea!

I had half expected it in The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfiled volume 3, but with River appearing in Doom Coalition at the moment Big Finish are probably wise to wait another year before the two archaeologists finally have an adventure together.

It does come across as one of those "take my money" ideas doesn't it?

There are a few things that seemed inevitable to me when BF got the license for New Who: David Tennant returning, a Paternoster/J+L crossover of some kind and this. Two of those three things have happened (as well as many surprising others).

I am probably in the minority but I probably wouldn't buy this. I am sure Big Finish would have enough customers that would though so I can see it being a good idea. Just not something that interests me. They are too similar for me. Though who knows when it's announced I could change my mind.
I didn't think the War Doctor would interest me either and now I can't wait till Boxset 3.

I feel like this is something that will inevitably happen at some point. I really love the idea of the two of them meeting up, and whilst they're similar, I feel like that could be a good thing -- it could either cause them to ruffle each other's feathers or they'll get on like a house on fire and have plenty of fun together, either way it sounds good to me. Also there was a time when Moffat suggested that Benny and River could be married...

Also there was a time when Moffat suggested that Benny and River could be married... After what happened to Jason? I dunno... She's not one to angst certainly, but I don't think Benny will ever get over that. Actually, if we're talking post-Twelve Benny and River, the two of them would have a lot to talk about if Peter ever came up in conversation. I think the former would understand the latter's situation perfectly, it would bring up some very painful memories of what happened on the Collection.

Post-Twelve River... during the 24 years a night lasts on Darillium you mean? because she was heading for the Library after meeting Twelve... Nope, I mean what Benny's son, Peter, did to Jason on the Collection through Braxiatel's manipulations. He murdered his own adoptive father. I think River and Benny would have a lot to discuss in regards to a child being used as a weapon from the perspective of both the victim and their parents. In fact, Bernice might be one of the very few people to understand outside of the Ponds.

Since the New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield seems determined to keep the strong Doctor Who connection, I could easily see not only Volume 4 including River, but The Diary of River Song Vol. 3 including Benny for one story to introduce her to the new series listeners who may not be familiar with her yet.

All of the Diary stories released so far took place after Darillium, didn't they? She has the sonic.

She had a sonic trowel, not screwdriver. I'm starting to think that the Doctor should patent sonic technology, he'd make a killing.

She had a sonic trowel, not screwdriver. In Boundless Sea, she had the trowel (or something she called a trowel). In Marvellous Party, it was the screwdriver.
