Curious how many other people here own audios that they intentionally don't listen to and save for a later time... And when are you saving them for?
For instance, I kind of hoard my 2nd Doctor audios... And dole them out slowly to myself. They feel like a precious commodity to me. A hold over, I think from so many of Troughton's tv adventures missing or fragmentary.

I do it all the time, I save them up for binge listening sessions.

I'll buy things in sales occasionally that are part of an arc that I don't have preceding stories for, then wait until I eventually get around to buying those. Bought Protect and Survive back in summer 14 for example when it went on offer as part of the BF 15 year anniversary event. Only listened to it earlier this month after I bought several of the previous Hex arc stories then listened to them over the course of a few months (I skip around between ranges/doctors/periods a lot).

I've purchased, but banked, the Dorian Gray series for sometime later. I just completed the Compainion Chronicles, finally, after using them as material I'd listen to only after I'd burned through everything else current. The Early Adventures are next on that list.

New releases I tend to listen to right away but stuff I pick up on sales I save for slower months. I just have quite a lot saved for slower months so it's just finding the time to listen to it all.

Yes, I've been doing this for the whole of 2016. It's let me enjoy releases when I'm in the mood and not just to be one of the first to hear it. I'd been guilty of listening to most of the releases of the last few years within mere hours of release and being objetive, that's not ideal. You can't always be in the right frame of mind for listening and giving every release a fair crack. So I've found that while my to listen pile - which for years has only been "the latest release" is now well over a dozen releases strong, so I've also got choice when I find myself really in the mood.

I listen as things are released. I'm at the point where there aren't any sales I can take part in so I can't really build up a rainy day stash.

I kept stuff this year for going on holiday, with Classic Doctors, New Monsters, and UNIT 2.

Yes, I keep stories in reserve. Especially, I keep a few older stories in the MR in reserve, in case there is a period where I need a strong story to brighten my day.
Spare Parts was one such reserve for a very long time, because of the praise everyone gave it, though I have listened to it now. I also held on to Death and the Queen for a couple of months.
Some releases I am still holding in reserve include: Creatures of Beauty; Dark Eyes; The Devil's Armada; and Farewell, Great Macedon.
But there are ranges where I tend to listen to them upon release, such as 4DA, War Doctor, Early Adventures, and the Novel Adaptations.

When I buy releases on sale that are part of a story arc, I save them for later.
I have a lot of stuff I haven't listened to yet besides the story arc stuff being held for later, though, because I buy a lot on sales and I haven't caught up with listening to everything I've bought yet.

I don't save any in particular, but I don't wanna use up all the audios of a single Doctor, so when picking something, I tend to choose from the biggest pile. For that reason, I've had all three of the Fourth Doctor Novel Adaptations and Lost Stories for a while, but so far, since I have so few FDAs, I've only listened to "Foe from the Future". Right now I'm working my way through the Hex stories all up to "Signs and Wonders".

Like others, I buy a lot when there are sales and I save those until later. I do a little checking online to see what's a stand alone story and what's part of an ongoing story and I put the ongoing stories aside and only listen as far as I have.
Other releases I tend to pounce on immediately. My mail man is still cautious of me for tackling him the day the Tenth Doctor Adventures arrived.

BF might as well be heroin and I might as well be addicted to the same.
The most I've managed is to save one episode of a four-episode release for each day of four consecutive days, and then only because I know that I won't have a new release for weeks....

Oh, I hoard all the time. The audio chooses the listener. I've been a listener since 2003 and sometimes others things get in, books, films, music, other stuff, or I might just have a little burn out over a certain range, actor, character, etc. The trick is to just wait and when it's time the audios let me know it!

Whoa, bumping old threads. Was weird to open the thread and see a response from Jason, who is no longer with us. Guess that's bound to happen. To answer the question, I don't specifically save things for later per se. I have a lot of releases I haven't listened to yet (mostly bought on sale) so I do pick when I want to listen to which of them.

I have SUCH a backlog. Apart from brand new stuff, I have a lot of trouble going into my backlog and picking stuff. Too many options...

I save up things I have been anticipating for when I have the time to really appreciate them (weekends/ holidays...). Or at least I try. Did not quite work out for the anniversary release (I am not known for my patience...) and was a bit distracted doing other things which made me miss some vital information for the last two stories which detracted from my enjoyment of these stories. I hope I learned a lesson there...

Did not quite work out for the anniversary release (I am not known for my patience...) and was a bit distracted doing other things which made me miss some vital information for the last two stories which detracted from my enjoyment of these stories. I hope I learned a lesson there... That happened to me a little - I am always a little wary with 'crossovers' and six of them in a row seemed daunting. I eventually decided to give the first one a go and absolutely loved it, but the following ones not so much, so my mind wandered a little, other stories got priority, and I ended up missing important plot points. I have a feeling it's an epic that is meant for repeated listens anyway. As for consciously saving an audio, I am waiting for a crisis in my personal life to be over before I listen to Transference. I want a nice clear weekend to sit down with several pots of tea and a lot of peace to listen to it.

I like to stagger out my favourites.
So that the “new-ness” last for as long as possible - for example I would never “binge” listen to a new Jago & Litefoot boxset. And the first Paternoster Gang set took me a month to listen to the three stories.
The only thing I have purposely purchases and put away unopened and unlistened to is the complete Nest Cottage range on CD despite the fact I wasn’t a lover of the first few releases when I heard them back in those dark days when Tom wasn’t recording with Big Finish. I have them simply because I know that those dark times will unfortunately return.
