I echo the above sentiments re 'school of blood' And the scene with a drunk Jago talking about London ravaged by an Umpire was literally laugh out loud hilarious I definitely think this was the scene talked about in the extras where the writer thought he'd crossed the line of allowed sillyness into a silly mess but was justifiably loved by the cast It was indeed. Well deduced!

Okay, finished listening to these tonight, and started on the Extras. I liked this, it was a good release for Halloween-time. The story arc... I know this is a spoiler-ok thread but still: {Spoiler}well I found that I had pretty much anticipated the resolution... Ellie confronting J&L about the painting, J&L about to get killed by vampires...
What I didn't see coming and what I liked was how Ellie asked J&L to kill her at the end, and their refusal, and especially how that dovetails into the revelation that her brother had been in the same situation and had asked the same of our Heroes... leading to a resolution of sorts of that conflict between them.
While I was expecting much of the ending, I found I was really wanting to hear what I was expecting, so that was good.
I was a bit surprised about no cliffhanger either. I was sort of dreading when the sun was coming up, expecting the sun to be hitting Litefoot, and him recoiling, him having been vampire-infected through his transfusion with Ellie. Instead we got a nice gentle happy ending... although I do wish Ellie had admitted at some point to the killings she had committed. However, upon further reflection, Litefoot is no fool, and Jago is only partially, so I think they'd be smart enough to figure that Ellie had to be doing something to stay alive the last weeks...! I think maybe it was better off left unspoken.

Lack of cliffhanger provides a good gap for the Strax one off to fit in.
One question & apologies if I am being dim. I remember how the Master turned Ellie back into a vampire but how did she know to look for the painting? Did he tell her?

Pardon a bit of brief thread necromancy, but after finally catching up with the last few seasons (just in time for series 13; I finished Warm Blood just this afternoon by pure coincidence!), I kind of wanted to have a little vent. Excuse me for being half a year late to the party!
Twelve is a tricky one for me, because while I enjoyed the first three stories on their own, the overall arc didn't quite click for me. I kept feeling there had to be some form of turn to what was transpiring, but in the finale it reveals itself to be just at face value. It's also surprisingly rushed, at that, giving us a finale that's considerably quick about resolving what's been set up. I can't say I hated the ending, just felt it a bit too predictable and lacking in the emotional depth it needed.
In truth, most of it I'm willing to go along with, but the actions at the end of School of Blood genuinely irked me. It was a wonderful little Hammer-esque throwback, with an excellent climax... but what happens in the end feels like it makes the entire story kind of moot.

Well, that was interesting, and this thread reminded me of a few points I didn't actually pick up on, so I'm glad I read everyone's comments.
