Nice article with pictures on the BBC website about the 50th anniversary of The Prisoner. Posting it here rather than The Prisoner forum because: a) it's the television show, not the audio story; and b) I thought it would have more general interest to those of us who were fans of The Prisoner on television. In Pictures: The Prisoner at 50Enjoy!

I remember when The Prisoner was announced as being a BF project, a couple of posters on the old forum called it obscure, to which a certain Mr Gervais and I both suffered immediate jaw-drop. Few shows have ever been as seminal. It really couldn't have existed even a few years in either direction. I'd recommend the blurays as the show has never looked as good - now, you can say that of a lot of blurays but believe me the quality is just stunning even by HD standards. The set, in the UK anyway, always goes cheap. I recently re-read Andrew Pixley's book on the show and it's crammed full of intereting stuff - well recommended. It has plenty f archive commentary from McGoohan including his thoughts on what the "real" show is, and how much of it was filler he was forced to make for commercial reasons. It also has some thoughts on a reboot (I think Liam Neeson is mentioned as the new No. 6) as this was well before the 2009 series.
