Due to demand a selection of the early subscriber Short Trips are now available for general download purchase under a new range, Short Trips Rarities! The range will start with: The Toy by Nigel Fairs read by Sarah Sutton Museum Peace by James Swallow read by Nicholas Briggs Lepidoptery for Beginners by John Dorney read by Duncan Wisbey The Little Drummer Boy by Eddie Robson read by Beth Chalmers, and Sound the Siren and I'll Come To You Comrade by John Pritchard read by Stephen Critchlow. The Toy was previously only available as a CD with a subscription to Doctor Who - The Complete History.

Glad that I can purchase The Toy now, I remember being disappointed that it was a magazine special.

Were all of these bar The Toy, originally Subscriber only, before this?

The Short Trip Rarities range is a great idea but I do wonder how Panini feel about The Toy no longer being exclusive to Complete History subscribers. They will likely not gain as many new subscribers now.

They will likely not gain as many new subscribers now. I suspect that when the agreement was reached to make this story available to Panini, there was a clause included which would see the rights revert exclusively to Big Finish after a set period of time. We are only seeing the story made available for purchase as that time frame has now expired.
I may be wrong about this, but limited exclusivity deals are fairly common, so I would be surprised if something along those lines wasn't negotiated by BF.

Actually, that would make sense. I suppose those who subscribe to Complete History still get a CD copy rather than a download too, so an incentive is still there.

Is 'Lepidoptery for beginners' the first thing John Dorney wrote for Big Finish?

Other than The Toy, I will probably end up getting these with subscriptions (should I ever catch up...) but it's quite exciting to have covers for them... God, what have I become?

Glad to see these made available in this way. I made a special effort to get The Toy and was glad I did because I enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to hearing the other ones.

Is 'Lepidoptery for beginners' the first thing John Dorney wrote for Big Finish? Pretty much. I think it was roughly simultaneous with Remember Me for Sapphire and Steel, and may just have had the edge.

I think I will have a re-listen over weekend. when are you going to be a guest on the BF podcast, bugger all these actors I want an hour long special with BF very own national treasure.
