We are almost a decade in to films that make up the MCU, what are your favorites?
1.Guardians of the Galaxy
2.Captain America: Winter Soldier
3.Ant-Man
4.Doctor Strange
5.Captain America: Civil War/Iron Man 3-tie
Guardians of the Galaxy has become one of my favorite movies of the past ten years and one that I have watched a lot. I love the gritty action vibe of Winter Soldier. I really enjoy the humor of Ant-Man and I also like how the stakes for the hero are so personal. The movie is all about a father trying to do right by his child and trying to be the hero children often believe their parents to be. Much to my surprise I loved Doctor Strange. It is drop dead gorgeous and Cumberbatch nails the character. Number five I love for such different reasons. Civil War gets huge points for just how much it makes me love a film version of Spider-Man, how much it makes me crave for the Black Panther movie and in a running theme for me with this list, how personal the stakes become for the characters. The fight at the end between Cap & Iron Man is painful to watch and you only get to that point if you have been living with these characters for some time. Still, the number one thing Civil War offers is that moment when Scott Lang grows to Giant Man size. That sequence literally gave me something I have imagined since I was a child right there onscreen. My 8 year old self was smiling and laughing.
Iron Man 3 I love because it is a Shane Black movie through & through and should have been titled Tony Stark instead of Iron Man 3. Again, a movie with deeply personal stakes for the lead characters. I think it is the best Downey Jr. performance in any of the MCU movies and has become one of my go-to Christmas time movies.
Anyway, that is my top five. Who else wants to play?
