Watched part one of Mr. Wakefield’s Crusade, quirky murder mystery mini series staring a young Peter Capaldi😀It’s very off beat and a bit Hitchcockian! Capaldi’s character although a bit manic and creepy 💀is also adorably floppy haired and Hugh Grant-ish 😊It’s a bit odd hearing him speak with an English rather Scottish accent but I think he does it well! Also has appearances by the late great Richard Griffiths (who almost got cast the Doctor himself at one point during the classic era) as a door man Capaldi has a rivalry with. It’s a very odd little murder mystery miniseries so far, but so far I love it 😀

You realise you have been thoughtless & posted a spoiler about the show! Erm the character is plastered everywhere it's impossible not to know. Not everybody knows.

Star Trek: The Animated Series: "Bem" - Bem is a jerk and quickly wears out his welcome, not that he had one to begin with.
Columbo: "An Exercise in Fatality" - Columbo up against a shady fitness guru in the Season 4 opener. It's about par for the series but nothing much remarkable, either. If anything, its cardinal sin is taking far longer than needed to convey things to the audience - some scenes are interminable.
MASH: "Rainbow Bridge" - The gang embarks on a journey to retrieve wounded Americans deep into Chinese territory, and Frank thinks it could be a trap. The Chinese doctor is played by Mako, so that's cool. Also Loudon Wainwright III makes the first of a number of appearances wailing and playing his guitar, which has nothing to do with the rest of the episode.

Peter Falk God rest him, Columbo gets bit angry in this episode.

Family Guy: "Peter & Lois' Wedding" - I could've sworn we already had an episode about this. Basically it's the FG version of The Simpsons' embarrassing "That 90's Show." Excruciating.
Mystery Science Theater 3000: "The Sky Divers" - What.

Force of Nature, the 161st episode of Star Trek TNG & the most boring. Awful. Absolutely awful.

Mulder and Scully meet the Were-Monster. This might be the single most hilarious episode of the whole franchise. Very clever at poking fun at the whole premise of the "Monster of the Week". And best of all is kiwi comedian Rys Darby. Gets kiwi nostalgia bonus from me for the accent alone. This is brilliant from start to finish. Just do not take anything serious in this episode.

You realise you have been thoughtless & posted a spoiler about the show! Erm the character is plastered everywhere it's impossible not to know. I got an email from Zavvi this week and 'The Child' merchandise was their big push - something cute & switched on for the xmas tat carousel. This made me laugh:

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

After a break of several weeks I put some more Star Trek TOS on last night. It seemed the right thing to do in the week that Dorothy Fontana passed away. Just a shame that neither of them were written by her.
The Gamesters Of Triskelion. This was a heap of fun: about ten minutes in my wife wondered aloud if Kirk was “going to teach Shahna more of this Earth custom called kissing.” Sure enough, he did. It’s a fairly old-fashioned (even for 1967!) story of people kidnapped from all over the galaxy and forced to fight for the entertainment of some unseen overlords. Kirk, naturally, saves the day and forces the lords - a trio of super-evolved brains straight from Marinus (hmmm, I can feel a fanfic coming on...) - to free their slaves and teach them to be proper citizens.
A Piece Of The Action. This was a hoot! The Enterprise has to intervene in a society that has taken its cues from a historical document left behind. When t started and we saw the people wandering around in old-fashioned clothes my wife thought we’d seen it. I insisted we hadn’t but when I explained the plot she said, “We have seen it: this is the plot of Galaxy Quest.” But even she was enjoying it by the end of the episode, despite it being more than a bit silly. Something that struck me was that it was the rare episode where we got a few scenes that didn’t involve the main cast, something I hadn’t realised was as uncommon as it was.
