Well, I wouldn't mind if Superman exists in this universe, but hasn't become famous yet. If they ever do jump to a universe with Super-folk, then Supergirl would probably make more sense than Smallville. If they jump to any DC TV universe though, I want them to go to the world of Adam West's Batman. I'd love to see Old Adam West as old Bruce Wayne. They are building up for a Crisis on Infinite Earths in the future. Here's hoping. Maybe get Green Hornet too.
And Supergirl definitely makes more sense considering it's production companies, but Smallville was a CW show, so might be easier to use those rights.
And Supergirl niggle I have is calling her Kara Danvers. I'm sorry, but I get Kara Zor-El, and living with the Danvers means she gets that name, but it is far to close to Carol Danvers, and that's always what I say whenever I start to say her full name.
I assume they would want to go with Supergirl, since having her on Flash would basically be an advertisement for her show. Smallville ended years ago, so there is no point advertising for that. I've always said that they should do a Batman Beyond show set in the modern day of Adam West's Batman. That way you could have Adam West return to play an elderly Bruce Wayne, and you could bring back some of the other living actors from that show as well. It would be cool if Flash was able to jump through all sorts of DC live action universes. I'm sure the rights issues would make it difficult, but how awesome would it be if one week the Flash is helping Kara to defend National City, and the next week he's fighting Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor? I'm sure that will never happen, but I can dream.

The Flash needs to land in New York, and have just enough non-copyright infringement material to imply it's the MCU, and then the he leaves

Isn't Superman Returns the same universe as the Christopher Reeve movies?

Isn't Superman Returns the same universe as the Christopher Reeve movies? I have no idea. I just know Brandon Routh (Atom) was Superman.

Returns is a sequel to the first two Reeve movies, and ignores the second two. It has references to the first two movies, Marlon Brando as Jor-El, and Lois with a child she doesn't know is Superman's (since he wiped her memory with that magic kiss).

Having only seen Superman 1 and remember very little of Superman Returns, I can't really speak to it.

Isn't Superman Returns the same universe as the Christopher Reeve movies? As randomjc pointed out, it's a direct sequel to Superman II. But since it ignores III and IV, I tend to look at it as there's one universe where all four movies happened to Christopher Reeve's Superman, and another universe where the same events of the first two movies happened to Brandon Routh's Superman before his timeline diverged into Superman Returns. Today I watched parts 2 and 3 of the Childhood's End miniseries. It's always a given that the book is better, and of course that's going to be the case for this since it was written by one of the masters of science fiction. And I'm all for having to change things when you adapt it to a new medium. But I can't help feeling that the embellishments they made to darken the tone of this one just didn't work for me. On the other hand, the parts they got right were wonderful, so i feel the made a legitimately good effort at bringing it to the screen.

I've been binging again, this time finishing season 5 of Daria and all of season 1 of Star Wars Rebels (the Spark of Rebellion special included). I've got season 2 on the go, plus season 3 of Arrow and Stargate Atlantis if I want to watch something else or finish Star Wars Rebels. Odds are high on the latter. That's the problem with too much spare time and unlimited internet I guess.

Just saw Pointless Celebrities {Spoiler} Unfortunately, Colin Baker and Louise Jameson were eliminated in round 2 because more people knew about Joseph Barbera than Joseph Stalin...

To be fair, Supergirl was known as "Kara" (Zor-El) and (Linda) "Danvers" long before Marvel introduced head of Security, Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel (not that Marvel were going for originality as at least 2 other publishers had featured "Captain Marvel"s before).
