It's cheaper than most other hour long releases so I would say it is a deal. The Paul McGann and Tom Baker hour long releases are 8.99 for example. But they are a licensed product with a "name" actor, with an established audience. i know the sigmund f range was produced by someone else but they were full cast and were a lot cheaper for the pilot (which this is) i don't think it expensive but it's not a bargain, 99p would be a bargain. Main range 1-50 are a bargain at £2.99, the sales are a bargain at a £5 this is no more than reasonably priced..... as I say I am all in, just stop telling me it's a bargain

Perhaps his career is just getting started but he's starring in a Netflix/BBC America Co-Production.

Whey hey.....I am not talking total nonsense for a change. but I had never heard of Samuel Bennett & if he was not spoken of in the same breath as dirk gently I would still not know him. give a few years, a successful couple of roles & no need for a strap line & he may command a premium but not now, as brilliant as he maybe.

Definitely considering this, the low price is a big factor for me.

Just because you haven't personally heard of someone doesnt mean their name wouldn't sell the product to others, just saying. As I have certainly told some friends about this release based on him appearing in it. A friend of mine in the U.K. knows him from seeing him on stage too.Not saying he demands a premium but the release also shouldn't be reduced because he is an unknown. And also you said Sigmund Freud was full cast but so is this. There are 6 actors. I mean at least we can both agree it's not expensive.

Quite agree - he's Dirk Gently, he had a big role in the Beeb's successful 20Twelve sitcom, he was Renfield in Penny Dreadful and he was part of the pretty iconic original cast of The History Boys on stage alongside James Corden, Dominic Cooper and the rest. He also reprised his History Boys role in the film version. He's not A-list but he's not an unknown. He's arguably one of the country's current young character actors - and if Dirk Gently takes off (I didn't care for this version but he's good in it) he could be much better known and grab another big lead or two and join the A-list. Of course he's won a lot of hearts as Norton in BF's Torchwood but he's got a terrific career blooming on stage, screen and radio. A fiver doesn't get you much these days so I'll certainly cough up for this. I might hold off until I need to spend an extra few quid to get the 10% off £50 spend.

All this talk of actors being well known or not reminds me of my mum....it's a bit off topic but I thought I would share.....many of these names will probally not be known to our US friends but still.... my mum went to a friend of hers mayday party, when she came back she told me she had been talking to a lovely young man for much of the evening and thought he was a doctor! later in the year we sat down to watch the launch show for strictly come dancing.....and when Tom chambers came on she shouted that's him, that's him the lad I talked to at the party, why have they got doctors on here now.....Tom chambers played a doctor in casualty! mum went to a dinner held by our local MP who she knows quite well (Margaret Beckett.....deputy labour leader at the time) and sat next to a man who she chatted too, she came home and said nice man but a bit boring kept talking about all these people she had never heard of and his show.....that was Melvyn Bragg, Lord Bragg as he is now! we we went to see the touring production of beauty and the beast, parked in the car park and she went to check that it did not close before the performance finished, there was a man chatting to the car park attendant & he assured her that it would be finished in time. She then went on to say how marvellous the show was in London and how the tours were not as good as they used 2nd actors & musicians! when the show started she whispered to me....That man there playing lumiere he was the one I talked to in the car park! oh mum she has done it all her life, she has been talking & introduced to many well known people over the years Barry gibb, Brian Connelly of the sweet, Peter Andre & other all without a clue who they were until well after the event.

A friend of mine had absolutely no clue who Humphrey Bogart was. Now if he was alive today he would certainly demand a premium.

I'm definitely in for this one too! I'm starting to get my preorders together and already have made the "per-order charge" well worth it! Damn you, Big Finish!! A man and his paycheck are soon parted! Now, if Joe Lidster and David Darlington would get the Dark Shadows: Bloodline pre-order up, I'd celebrate with wine. Oh hell...why wait? Where's that corkscrew?

This sounds wonderful. I've gotten to love Samuel Barnett over the last few months. I love him in Dirk Gently, and in his BF work. Looking forward to it very much.

Going through my database of quotes and I found this one from Cicero that I like quite a lot. Anyone who has a library and a garden wants for nothing.

Looking more closely at the album cover, I'm pretty sure that's Samuel's face made to look like an old bronze bust. I've seen enough stautes of Cicero in my Latin books!
