Released March 2017Everyone’s a little worried about St Helen’s Hospital. In many ways it is a miracle of the modern NHS. It has plenty to offer its patients. The problem is that a lot of them keep dying of natural causes in the night. And no- one can find the bodies. People are beginning to notice. Questions are being asked. And there are rumours – the strange whispering figures seen at the end of the corridors, the electrical buzzing, the screams. Also, Rhys Williams has come to visit his mother. Brenda’s had her hip done and is looking forward to a bit of rest and regular crumble. Rhys and his mam are in for a night they’ll never forget. Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listenersWritten By: David Llewellyn Directed By: Scott Handcock CASTKai Owen (Rhys), Nerys Hughes (Brenda Williams), Karl Theobald (Mr Tate), Ryan Sampson (Mr Nichols), Ruth Lloyd (Nurse Brown), Stephen Critchlow (Dr Fletcher)

I'm delighted that Rhys is getting the spotlight here. Following Jack, he's actually my favorite character from Torchwood. Sounds like a nice, creepy story, too.

Looking at the track list the trailer is for Corpse Day instead of the next story, The Dollhouse.

That was a fun spooky audio, nice start to a new season too... Sounds like the recording was A LOT of FUN!!! 😂😂😂
I hope this isn't the last we hear from Nerys Hughes as Brenda,
Maybe a story about Gwen' Mary and Brenda at a Spa day where Alien Tech is being used...

Great story (very heartwarming and very suspenseful too) and a great start to the season (and delightful extras). Very excited about what's ahead this series (including the news at the end of the Torchwood article in Vortex 97 which makes me very happy).

I love how Brenda chides Rhys whenever he swears or curses, yet she's the one to drop the f-bomb!
Am I the only one who wants more Banana Boat? He'd be perfect for a bumbling sidekick to Rhys or one of other members of the Torchwood team.

Well! This is another treat from start to finish. I'm someone who never really got into the television show, so these Torchwood audios have been a real Big Finish success story for me. Just as BF were the ones to introduce me to the delights of Dark Shadows all those years ago (still their best range, I think), it's all happening again with Torchwood. Two exquisite funny/dramatic performances from Tom Price and Nerys Hughes in a potentially gruesome and fascinating story. I'd love to hear more from Brenda again, she's great fun. Brilliant laugh! And one of those dodgy doctors (Ryan Sampsons?) - he didn't arf sound like David Jason in (UK sit-com) 'Only Fools and Horses'. Was that a deliberate decision, I wonder? Excellent.

What a lovely fast-paced and sinister listen. Looking forward to finding out more about the ultimate agency behind the hospital horrors - presumably they will be revealed throughout this run... And another thumbs up for the interviews! Torchwood really does have the best behind the scenes extras. "WHAT do you mean by that, Scott?" had me cracking up 😂

Yeah, the extras were fun - Nerys' laugh could cheer up even some of the more miserable posters on the forum Really liked that Rhys became the experienced one of the team who had to take control when he's normally been the one in the comic relief position who doesn't understand the gravity of the situation. Very sweet, very real little ending. Not trite with false emotion but the way family really do talk. Kai is really dynamic on audio, too. Never sounds like a man in a recording booth. He still manages to bring a bit of energy and movement to the part which really helps me visualise it. Anyone else feel like calling their mum after it?
