Great that they got the rights.

That's the writer from the Lethbridge-Stewart range! And the writers of two pure historicals from 'The Early Adventures' - very good to have a second BF story already from Roland Moore, following the excellent 'The Night Witches'. And Robert Khan and Thomas Salinsky who wrote my favourite EA 'The Ravelli Conspiracy'; from Machiavelli to Sir Toby Kinsella - spot the difference?!

The difference? Machiavelli was a theoretician; Kinsella a practitioner.

I believe the correct BF phrase of encouragement is 'Buck up'? (I think you bought the CM back catalogue boxsets in the same recent sale that I did? - I do remember I wasn't the only one to report binge-buying in the summer CM sale! ) Currently working my way through CM and loving every second. CM2 complete this week, on track to complete TNCM1 by the end of next month.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one taking full advantage of the summer CM sale! But how many of us on DU are up-to-date in our listening? Not me! Perhaps we need a new thread: The BF Addicts Backlog Countdown Thread.

Great news for those interested in the Counter Measures range!
I hope the Yeti will be appearing in other ranges after this release - I'd love to hear the Eleventh Doctor encounter them sometime between The Bells of Saint John and Name of the Doctor once Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman inevitably join Big Finish.

BF produces so much great stuff, and so much great Doctor Who related material that I feel Counter-Measures sometimes flies under the radar, which is a shame because I don't think the range has ever hit a bad note. The series has moved from strength to strength. Easily one of the best ranges Big Finish produces and always an instant pre-order for me.

Of course it's really the other way round: The 'BF Stories to Enjoy for the First Time Counter' thread. So many great stories to explore in their back catalogue, one day I suppose I'll be up to date on all the ranges which interest me and have to wait for new releases to hear a new story. Fortunately that day is a very long way off and I'm enjoying the exploration hugely.

I tend to space out ranges like this with very irregular release schedules, and as I only listened to Series 2 last month there's no way I can catch up on this before December And Counter-Measures really is excellent. After finishing Series 2, I texted my brother telling him to start listening to Series 1 straight away - he doesn't know what he's missing out on. He didn't say he hadn't bought them already... If you start such a thread I suppose I’ll win hands down with maximum count 😀 Oh-ho, how wrong you are! I'm three releases behind in Counter-Measures (well, four if you include Who Killed Toby Kinsella?), but there are many, MANY other things that I'm lagging VERY far behind... For instance, I don't even own Dalek Empire yet, let alone listened to any of it. And there are other ranges, like Survivors, that I'm keen to get into at some point, but I'm going to catch up on all things Doctor Who and Blake's 7 before I move on to other things (although I already own all of Blake's 7, now it's just a matter of keeping up! ).

Oh well, the CM releases will wait patiently until you are ready for them - and they'll be just as excellent then. CM series 1 was a revelation - I'd expected 'very very good' and got 'totally brilliant' instead. The only other time I've felt quite such a strong reaction to a new range was the magical J&L 1. I'm spreading J&L in the same way you describe - I've collected 1-11 now (and bought 13 on release) but I'm not rushing. Sadly, there will be no more, so I'm going to make the journey last. I'm currently paused on the considerable cliff-hanger which ends J&L 3. Oh corks!, as one might say!

www.bigfinish.com/news/v/counter-measures-vs-the-great-intelligenceThe Counter-Measures team face off against the Great Intelligence next month – and another terrifying foe joins as the Abominable Snowmen return to threaten London in the series two’s finale. The New Counter-Measures series features characters from the Doctor Who TV adventure Remembrance of the Daleks (which starred Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and was broadcast in 1988). The adventures of Professor Rachel Jensen (Pamela Salem), Group Captain Ian Gilmore (Simon Williams) and Allison Williams (Karen Gledhill) – now working for Sir Toby Kinsella (Hugh Ross) – continue as they battle threats to England in the 1960s. And today we can reveal the full synopses for series two of the New Counter-Measures.

I'm planning to finish New Counter-measures 1 this week.. So all geared up for the second installment I've taken quite a fondness for this team.
