Feel free to not watch it.
I find them quite useful as an opportunity to put my earphone on and listen to Big Finish while the wife and daughter watch them.

It's a waste of the license fee on a format that has lost a lot of popularity since the highs of 2010.

The problem is, people will watch it - they cater for what people want and unfortunately (in my opinion) it's this type of rubbish that the majority of people want to watch. Same with the multitude of reality programmes. Cheers Tony

It's bizarre in my view that there's so many singing shows being broadcast next year when people don't care for them anymore. That's the thing - nobody WILL watch it. The money that will be used for Pitch Battle could be put to better use for a new sci-fi/fantasy series.

I do know they did the same thing (back in the '90s?) when every second programme was a "House Improvement" one - you know what it's like, take an idea that (initially) works and then "beat the hell out of it" until people get sick of it ... Cheers Tony

Reality and singing shows cost a fraction of drama - especially sci-fi And certainly sci-fi to the standard it needs to be produced to in 2016 for international sales. The Beeb haven't had a successful fantasy or sci-fi in a while and got their fingers burned badly on Atlantis and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell. They didn't get half of the seven milion viewers you're slagging X-Factor for getting. Now, I'm with you - I WANT more sci-fi, fantasy and weekend drama that isn't cop or period...but when reality and talent shows cost a fraction of the cost and get more viewers we can't seriously expect the Beeb to ignore what the public want for Saturday night entertainment. ITV have Voice, X-Factor and Got Talent so they're going for multiples of the same kind of shows too and that's no coincidence.

If they brought back Dancing On Ice, it would be a far bigger hit than The Voice UK.

They might want dancing or baking more, but they seem to still like singing too. Yes x factor figures are down, but 7 million is not small beer and was good enough for ITS to keep renewing it. Doctor who would be quite proud to get similar figures. In fact, let's think what happened when the two were against each other. Oh yes, Doctor Who lost.

Singing shows regularly get better figures than Doctor Who so you can hardly say nobody wants to watch them.

A much bigger amount of viewers on catch-up too. That's not even close to being true. Not once in Series 9 did the catchup figures beat the live ones. Please don't just make stuff up to try and win an debate. Especially when others can provide widely available and easy to find evidence to show it (see below link for live viewership and then the final and +7days figures.). www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-series-9-2015-uk-ratings-accumulator-76154.htmWhy not do the 10 seconds of research it takes before posting?

Two million more viewers on catch-up is more than the X Factor gets on demand though.

That wasn't even slightly what I was replying to though was it? You just consistently make stuff up, get proven wrong and then ignore the fact you were incorrect but press on by making some more stuff up in the hope no-one realises you just pluck "facts" from the air to support your initial opinions. Opinions that won't waiver even when demonstrably irrational or plain inaccurate.
