SO much to take in just in the closing scenes alone. "Hidden in plain sight", the old term, came up early from Sherlockand then the idea - that the true villain of the piece was revealed last week, and 2 minutes into this one and we didn't see it - was used against us later on, terrifically. You got me, Moff!
I'm a huge mark for Toby Jones so have been waiting for him to be on screen since he was announced and he didn't disappoint. He was creepy, insidious and compelling. Freeman and Cumberbatch both did the truly broken versions of their characters perfectly and what UK tv viewer can't fall in love with Una Stubbs driving a sports car in a high speed police chase?
Next week I'd imagine we'll get some of the most personal stakes. I'd wager Mycroft will need to figure somewhat prominently as it seems - as I guessed on page 1 - we're getting flashbacks to the Holmes family album. Very glad Moriarty turned out to be, seemingly, a red herring. Not a game anymore indeed.

There were so many twists and turns in tonight's episode that now I really wouldn't be surprised if in next week's episode Mary will turn out to be alive.

So are there four Holmes siblings, or is Sherrinford another name for Eurus?

So are there four Holmes siblings, or is Sherrinford another name for Eurus? I presume that 'Sherrinford' is an institution where she's supposed to have been locked away, or something. But will we meet Harold Chorley of BBC News in the next episode? Probably not...

So are there four Holmes siblings, or is Sherrinford another name for Eurus? I'd imagine it was a bit of blindsiding the audience. Make people, especially those familiar with expanded Holmes lore, look for a brother when Eurus is hidingin plain sight. Sherrinford, I'm guessing, will be the Holmes version of Skyfall - a place the boys had something happen and would rather not see again.

Didn't the episode itself explain the same thing, or am I missing something in the article?

Were they actually having an affair? I read it as just being the secret texting and he stopped that before it could go further. He was enjoying having a secret of his own - a release valve away from the two people he's closest to who BOTH dominate him. And then he realised he had to rein himself in in case things progressed. Did I miss something saying they were sleeping together? I hate to say 'I told you so'... no... actually I love to say 'I told you so'. I told you so.

Possibly my favourite Sherlock episode ever...the twists were fantastic, Toby Jones was delightfully creepy & Benedict, Martin & Una were all phenomenal, 90 minutes of pure brilliance.

So I think the others were right too - you're ALL winners. You're getting a star sticker on your homework.

A fantastic episode. And i love how it all weaved together. Did not expect the ending, so i cant wait for Sherrinford to be explained. Oh clever Moffatt. When he puts his mind to it he can actually stick a landing lol

Ooh that was clever. Glad it's not Moriarty behind the 'Miss Me?'.
And plenty of questions left to be answered.
