Very good story, despite a couple of cheeky references, its Time War in tone.
Minor thing they used 5th's Theme instead of 8th's or Time War.

It's terrific. It's a very good way of dealing with the Time War, particularly showing how the Time Lords are acting. I loved how the story highlighted how the Time War has already changed the Doctor, long before he's even made that fateful decision on Karn... Oh and it's beautifully read by Sarah Sutton.
How great to have a Time War story without a single mention of the Daleks, let alone hearing anything from them. The War Doctor series attempted this by having a few Dalek-lite episodes, but I wish it had gone all out and done one completely without them.

Probably the strongest Short Trip in "Season 7" so far, alongside How to Win Planets. It's a morally complex little Time War tale with some really moving character building.
Sarah Sutton plays all the parts perfectly, and this opens up an interesting new chapter in Nyssa's life that I hope other stories explore someday. Without spoiling anything, I'd welcome a stand-alone prequel/sequel in the Eighth Doctor Time War boxsets.

Minor thing they used 5th's Theme instead of 8th's or Time War. That threw me off too, but especially at the very end, it makes perfect sense.

I found that a bit odd myself, particularly since McGann is on the cover art. I suppose there's an argument to be made that the thrust of the story is loyalty to the spirit of the Doctor that Nyssa knew, but I'd still land on preferring the McGann theme. But I'm nitpicking on that one point. On the whole, I loved it. It was a solid, interesting story that was well-told, and Sarah Sutton did a lovely reading of it. Thumbs up from me.

I love 'A Heart on Both Sides' with Sarah Sutton as Nyssa. Many of you knew this was coming, I guess. I'll share more thoughts and give a full in-depth review on the story soon. Tim.

Solid story, didn't outstay it's welcome and gave a nice angle on the War.
Now to figure out why Nyssa doesn't think to mention the Time War when she reunites with the fifth Doctor in Cobwebs...

I'll have more feelings when I've had time to listen, but just based off of what I've read about it? I'm weeping with love and joy. I probably always was going to, since I've wanted a Nyssa and Nine/any post Time War Doctorencounter for ten thousand years. Nyssa and an Eighth Doctor in the Time War as a concept has had me thrilled for months. sherlock I can't help wondering if knowing about the Time War is one of the reasons she didn't want to stay with him though? Because she already knew she hadn't been? (Plus all her other valid reasons, of course.)

He's given her enough lectures on the Dangers of foreknowledge though hence probably why 8th didn't reveal his identify.

Just listened to this. Wow, the High Council of Time Lords were truly evil attacking a planet that wanted to remain neutral in the war in an attempt to force their involvement.
I hope Big Finish use this Nyssa set-up with the Traken for a future release. It would be nice to see Jenny bump into Nyssa whilst she's docked her hospital ship on a planet somewhere to provide medical assistance.

Solid, perfectly paced story, character focused and relatively small in scale for a Time War story, but an interesting, morally grey spin on the conflict, who needs Daleks when you have timelords acting this calculating? Not sure I entirely buy the idea of the Doctor going incognito all those months, but it's nice to know the Doctor had some closure with old friends during the conflict, even as the war continues to beat him down.
Excellent narration by Sarah Sutton, and it opens up another interesting chapter in Nyssa's long life.
I haven't listened to any of the Older Nyssa stories from the Main Range, but I'm wondering if/how this fits in with that arc, and 'Circular Time: Winter'? it's quite tragic that Nyssa eventually meets up with 'her' Doctor again (after this story chronologically?) knowing full well that he gets dragged into the time war, but has to keep quiet about it...come to think of it, does this mean the Time War was actually going on around/during the 5th Doctor era as well?
8/10
So, that's 4 8th Doctor time war stories so far (CDNM 1.4, 2.4 and TDORS 1.4), and all of them have been rather good and different in tone, with not a Dalek in sight, certainly bodes well for the upcoming boxsets...

After listening to this, I wouldn't mind a few more time war short trips with some of the other Classic companions, such as Turlough or Steven it's a conflict raging throughout the universe and time itself, so it probably effected some of the Doctor other companions...

I wasn't a fan of The Sontaran Ordeal personally, but this story was fantastic. The upcoming Time War set sounds great too judging by the fifteen minute preview in the podcast.

I'd like a War Doctor Short Trip read by Lalla Ward. Romana's reaction to the War Doctor would be interesting to hear.

I loved The Sontaran Ordeal, (reminded me of Star Wars for some reason), it was a fairly generic story (and I still think New Series Sontarans were a bit misleading for a 'New' Monsters boxset) but told very well, as hyped as I am for the Time War Set I'm not going to listen to the preview, waited this long for the boxset, I can wait a little longer without spoiling any of the story... I am a tad concerned that Big Finish will have enough photographs of McGann's NOTD costume for a further 16 (or more) story covers...that 2 CDNM covers reused the same image, and the photo used for the Rulers Of The Universe was also used for some of 8th Doctor Titan comics, the promotional photoshoot for a 7 minute minisode can't have been that long...

I wonder if they could get away with taking new pictures of Paul McGann in that costume? It was only four years ago and he hasn't aged that much in that time.
