What would be cool is if this year's competition lets you use any Doctor, not just the classic series Doctors. Let me guess... you want to write a Tenth Doctor story?! If I can!

BF probably wants to keep the revival Doctors a bit more exclusive for now. Somewhere, down the line, though........

Oh my god... idea.... LEGO AUTONS I've peaked for today... That's a fantastic idea! However, entries aren't allowed to feature pre-existing monsters A good second idea to pitch to them if you win this year though

Is it just me, or does it feel like there should've been an announcement about now?

Is it just me, or does it feel like there should've been an announcement about now? They announced it on the eighth last year so I'm expecting the same.

I posted it in another thread because I somehow missed this one, despite A.)the fact that I posted in this very thread previously and B.)it's stickied right at the top of the page, but an interview with Ian Atkins aired earlier this week on the Raconteur Roundtable.
I thought it was worth listening for people interesting in entering this year’s Short Trip Opportunity, because he makes some observations on differences between Short Trips and Monthly Range stories and offers some other helpful hints.

I thought it was worth listening for people interesting in entering this year’s Short Trip Opportunity, because he makes some observations on differences between Short Trips and Monthly Range stories and offers some other helpful hints. While the interview is very worth listening to, here's a quick breakdown of Ian's criteria for easy reference when any of you write: 1) Emotionally moving. Preferably with some type of extra 'kick' at the end to really hit it home i.e. the daughter in Forever Fallen. 2) Intimate over epic, and character driven. A chance to really get inside someone's head, and it doesn't have to specifically be the Doctor or companion. 3) Optimistic. Not necessarily saccahrine, sappy or a happy happy ending, but something to do with overcoming or perservering. 4) Ideally, not a comedy or too 'jokey'. The implication being it's not appropriate for a memorial competition, and the writer comes off as not taking the opportunity seriously. This does actually line up with BF's stories, ST and MRs alike, over the last few years, where they've been moving away from funnier tales and writers like Fountain and Sweet. 4b) Also, proof read/read aloud so nothing is unintelligible or clumsy.
