Farewell, John Hurt. I'm glad we got you for audio War Doctor stories, so glad. I'll say no more. I'm off to rewatch Day of the Doctor.

I still cannot really believe he has gone.
I keep thinking of the line he said in Watership Down, the rabbits say it when they think they have lost bigwig .....may not be quite right but it's some thing like this
my heart has joined the thousand, for my friend stopped running today.
sleep well Sir John, your voice and silhouettes will echo on throughout time (& space)
The lost Doctor is lost to us once more.

I'm... trying to think of words that can sum up how I am feeling.
I have... none

And quite simply, though a late arrival to being the Doctor he WAS a Doctor. And the first one we've lost since 1996. We've been remarkably lucky with our Doctors that way.

I honestly did not know what to say about this. John Hurt was an absolute class act, a gentlemen in every sense of the word. No matter the project he would always give it a hundred percent, no matter what.He was a shining star in Hollywood and now it will stand just a little more shorter with less gleam in it's eyes. John Hurt became a Doctor faster than anyone else. His portrayal of the War Doctor quickly became a favourite of mine, as well as my late stepfather. He passed away from cancer a little over a year ago and to have John Hurt pass away in the same manner was absolutely soul crushing. Never before have I been so affected by the death of a celebrity. He was in many ways the most doctor like actor we have been graced with. Sir John Hurt, We will forever miss you and the light that you brought to many lives, the joy that you crafted from your work, the charitable work that you did for children. We are forever in your gratitude for roles that you continued to bring us till the day you died.
"Someone once asked me, "Is there anything you regret?" and I said, "Everything!" Whatever you do, there was always a better choice. "If" and "only" are the two words in the English language that should never be put together." John Hurt

I'm so sad that John Hurt has died. What a fabulous actor and such a varied career. I was hoping to hear him in Big Finish stories for years to come. Condolences to his family.
