Hey everyone,
Do you feel that Romana would be well-served as a character having either died before or during the less morally questionable days of the Time War or would you prefer her to be alive and well during the time period of the revival series somehow?

Well I think BF should leave that open but not obvious, if you see what I mean so that Romana could return on TV but we all fret about her fate in the meantime

I think "disappeared before the War Doctor arrived" suits her character. She'd fight, but her way. She'd probably be off rallying Tharils etc.

I'd be in favor of Romana living through the time war because of the dramatic potential of her meeting up with the Doctor in the future, knowing who and what he became when he was the War Doctor. Interesting questions rise from this. Would Romana agree with the way he ended the war? Would she disagree? What plan might she have had to finally end the war that was impossible once the Doctor pressed the big red button? These questions could drive some really interesting interactions between these two characters, especially given how long Romana might have had to stew about things.

I hope she's alive and well on pocket-Gallifrey. Whether Lalla Ward, Juliet Landau, or an entirely new actor, I'd love it if she turned up in nuWho.

Apologies if this is a daft one, as I'm not up on the history of the Galifrey series, but might she have been deposed by the revived Rassilon? If so, there's a story if they could coax Timothy Dalton to the mic. I don't now about you, but since they managed to secure John Hurt anything seems possible!

I'd like to see her deposed and imprisoned, and then rescued from under Dalton/Rassilon's nose by Braxietel.

Why? "Compassion is a TARDIS. A TARDIS that looks like a human". Voila, all the explanation you need.

Well, you still have the Faction Paradox/Miles problem and if the above is all you need then it just reads as a flip of "The Doctor's Wife", which goes nowhere. The FP/Miles hurdle is still the main thing though I think.

Miles has, it seems, washed his hands of the Faction, leaving it up to Obverse Books to play with his toys. And Compassion was created for Doctor Who, for the BBC. An accreditation and some royalties would smooth the issue.

An accreditation and some royalties would smooth the issue. Having watched the vehemence with which he jumps on things I'd not like to bet on that actually The washing hands of and letting go. I'm sure he must have at least left Obverse with a template for what can and can't be done with FP.

I think it would be best for Romana to have survived, just because of the dramatic potential of the Doctor meeting her again. However, {Spoiler} she didn't appear to be on Gallifrey in Hell Bent and I think she would have done SOMETHING if she was. Although she could have left AFTER they were unfrozen.
I've always felt that despite RTD's intentions, The Woman from End of Time probably works best as being either Romana or Susan.

Heck, Romana already copied Princess Astra, and her third form (in the books) was apparently reminiscent of the Doctor's mother...

Unless she does something that got up the Doctor's nose during the War and was on The List in "Heaven Sent". Or she visited him and realised he was genuinely insane at that point and ran, knowing that a sane Doctor committed genocide, an insane one could do anything. oorr she was the General. bemoaning having to put up with three Doctors and "not knowing when I was well off", being sniffy about testosterone post-regeneration and trusting the Doctor to the point of giving up a regeneration do seem "Romana" things to do.
