Washington DC.
I went last year and it was the worst run convention I've ever been to. If you do go, be prepared for long waits in long lines, massive delays, and presentations that may be cut short. The prime focus of the stars at the convention is a mill for high cost signings and photo-ops.

In the past 10 years, maybe a few more, it's been much more about how many guests there are and how much merch there is to buy. Was always a much more event-led thing with the community the main draw.

I wouldn't've bought it to Acoustic's attention except that's its the 4 of them together (I think for the 1st time in a Convention setting)

I think that the combined VIP pass photo ops are group photos and not N individual photos, but I may be mistaken.

You also have to take into account the price of the ticket $75 + what it would cost for autographs/photo-ops if you weren't getting the VIP Pass. But these are still really expensive.

Of course, for some people these prices may be worth it and I am sure they are going to sell plenty of VIP passes and autographs and photo ops, but I will happily pass on the whole experience. I prefer the experience I am looking forward to this weekend at Regeneration Who. I am (currently planning on) passing on all the photos and photo ops there as well (and some of the combos of various tickets options could get quite experience there as well).

True getting autographs and photos at cons can really add up. I haven't decided what I am going to get at Regen Who but some of the group photos I am interested in are quite pricey. But they are still cheaper than what you can usually get at comic cons. Plus comic cons often don't gurantee seating in panels where you are more likely to get in to multiple panels at cons like Regen Who.

The local scifi/fantasy/comic cons here have VIP passes, but general admission tickets are reasonable, especially if you pre-purchase well in advance of the con. You do have to pay for official photo ops, but some of the guests have a cheaper "selfie" option if you bring your own camera or use a phone camera. Some guests charge a lot for autographs for which you have to pay in advance, others charge less and you pay at the guest's booth. Our local cons are not Doctor Who specific, but there is usually at less one guest who has been involved in Doctor Who. In addition to Doctor Who guests, I've gotten to meet stars from Star Trek, Star Wars, and other show/movies, as well as comic book artists and actors who do the voices on animated films and shows. So, overall, I enjoy going. Plus it's local, so minimal travel expense, and no lodging expense. (Though this year, I got a hotel for one of the cons so I can stay close to the site.)

Anyone go to it this year? I heard that on Saturday some people had to wait 2 to 3 hours to get into the convention center.

Anyone go to it this year? I heard that on Saturday some people had to wait 2 to 3 hours to get into the convention center. I didn't, but our next door neighbors did. They did describe extremely long waits. They were directed to the wrong line at one point and lost over an hour. I'll see if I can get some more details from them later this week.

There are some short videos from David Tennant and Catherine Tate's presentations on You Tube and longer of John Barrowman.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'd like to see those.
Come to think of it, I think you must have met my friend, because she was taping my panel at RGW.
Amusingly, she cropped her husband out of the group photo she posted on her site and she started telling people that John Barrowman is her new husband.
