Really don't get what he expects Chibnall to do. Why should Chibnall say anything? There's no criticism for him to respond to because nothing showrunned by him has actually aired yet. As for the toxic fandom, it's not Chibnall's job to mediate the fandom. Indeed... I seem to keep wishing Chibnall would offer more insights in advance to help reasonable people avoid catastrophizing, but that may still not be much help for anyone simply determined to catastrophize. Anything he might have to say is likely to be taken the wrong way by someone, I presume. If he's taken the stance of mainly wanting to just have the show speak for itself when the episodes air, I can't say as I blame him - that might be wise of him, actually. Guaranteed, it's an old trick called gotcha journalism. Quotes taken out-of-context, misrepresented and then thrown back at the other party so they spend three-quarters of the time trying to defend themselves against accusations of malevolence or incompetence. The show itself really the best counterargument he could ever want for. Opinions can always change and since they're centred around what the show is producing, it's the best avenue for achieving that change. I don't really see the point of giving further voice to the extremism. The average sceptical viewer will likely respond to the television series much more than they would a blanket statement and those who continue to be driven by their disgust at the show likely won't have any impact. No one remembers the detractors, not even really their detractions. People tend to focus on what worked instead. They want to be happy, not miserable.

I imagine we'll get it sometime around Twice Upon's broadcast, or as a teaser at the end of the special. Anyone remember when we got Capaldi's costume reveal? Capaldi's costume was announced in late January 2014, so some time after the regeneration episode, Huh, that long. I always remembered it being sooner, but hey, mind cheats. Also remember all the comments about him looking like a magician (irony threatens to break through the earth's crust).

Entirely coincidental, but LittleKuriboh (Youtuber and voice actor for anime, for those not familiar), recently put this up. It's very pertinent:

Entirely coincidental, but LittleKuriboh (Youtuber and voice actor for anime, for those not familiar), recently put this up. It's very pertinent: Martin Billany does a lot of good work. We're Still Here is particularly awe-inspiring for how open he is about what he's been struggling through. It's still really hard to talk about things like depression and anxiety in a public forum -- particularly ongoing problems of that nature -- without someone latching onto what they perceive as "weakness" and venting down someone's throat. His commentators are wonderfully supportive, there are so many stories of people who got through the more difficult parts of their lives in his work. Yeah, I've never really quite understood why someone is "objectively" a better human being than another because they came to a franchise later than others. This is true across pretty much all fandoms. Those who come across a little too intense, that makes sense. Those who maliciously go out of their way to shove others away, not so much. It reminds me of something that my grandmother told me a month or so back when we were talking about her childhood during and after the war. "When cowards have no one left they can spook, they go for those they think can't defend themselves. The young and the open-eyed." There's a worrying bit of truth to that. Me personally, fans are fans, whether they're old, young, newcomers or veterans. To scoff, sneer or even go so far as to be actively resentful of their arrival sounds... exhausting. And what really is there to show for the grudges and the pettiness? Well... *shrugs* Nothing really. The gatekeepers have actually hurt what they were so jealously trying to hoard and the people they attack will simply move on, the detractors existing only as a half-formed punchline. It seems such a terrible waste of everything -- time, energy, etc. What's the point of barring the way? To restrict them is just a loss to everyone. New ideas are lost and the rare moment of falling in love with all those old stories again is lost.

Series 8 filming did start in early January a few weeks before the costume announcement, presumably they held off a few weeks since Capaldi spends most of his first story in other clothes than his usual look. Has it actually been confirmed Series 11 starts filming soon? The most recent I could find online was a Digital Spy article from 23 October which was still speculating filming would start in January. Other people supposedly 'in the know' said early November. So it is likely to start next week I feel.

I promise this isn't me being flippant but do you think The Doctor will refer to herself as a Time Lord or Lady? Missy decided to adopt TIme Lady after all.
My hope is that the question is asked and she says "Neither - just The Doctor will do".
I'm so excited to see Jodie.

Eccleston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi all said they were Timelords plenty of times, and their enemies adressed them as such. Why on Earth would it now become an obsolete question?

What I mean is nobody is going to specifically ask her 'Are you a Time Lord or Time Lady?'. More likely her enemies will just call her 'Time Lord'.

I don't think there's a scenario where she'd be asked if she's a Time Lord or Time Lady anyway. Granted a lot of characters wouldn't know to ask The Doctor that, but on the other hand I think it sounds very natural to me for characters who do know some of The Doctor's background (mainly companions) to ask her that.

Exactly - it comes up in natural conversation all the time in the show. I'm not sure why DB expects it won't do. Missy was quite clear in wanting to draw the distinction...I don't think there's any problem wondering if The Doctor will want to do the same.

Maybe one day we'll get a modern variation of a well known speech and The Doctor will say ... I am far more than just another Time Lady...
Even better if she is speaking to Davros!

My initial reaction...honestly it looks a bit flat and impractical, the retro look is interesting but the suspenders? Looks like it was thrown together in a hurry...which to be fair might actually be an interesting hint at 13's character (though I'm glad they didn't over sexualise Jodie) exactly what a timelord with notoriously poor fashion sense might wear after millenia as a male.
Not really a fan tbh, just seems a bit...odd...will wait to see her in action.

Looks fine to me. Very modern bohemian. Like your odd art teacher.

My initial reaction...honestly it looks over-designed and impractical, the retro look is interesting but the braces? Looks like it was thrown together in a hurry... Yeah, it's not doing very much for me either (though I've got a mild/strong unconscious bias against a female Doctor and am still adjusting to the idea, so I'm expecting to take a bit of time getting used to anything relating to all this ). To be honest, it looks like a 6-year-old was given access to their parents' wardrobe and allowed to dress themselves in anything they want...

I think because the outfit looks quite random and impractical it is probably best to wait to see it action, it looks very odd to my eyes...but perhaps that will actually make it work in practice? Capaldi's costume hinted at a sterner, stripped back Doctor, this seems to hint to me Jodie's Doctor will be more ethereal and quirky. Already seeing very mixed reactions...Colin's coat may soon get some new defenders...
