I'm almost certain well get a McGann on TV. After all, all were getting is a few "specials" so an eighth Doctor story in the mix is entirely possible, maybe setting the scene for the arc in the specials? I think that's extremely unlikely, unless you mean that he might put in an appearance (which I still think is unlikely), but the idea that he would star in his own episode/story just doesn't seem grounded in the realities of what Moffat/The BBC are out to achieve.

Dalekbuster, yes it does mean a one off isn't possible, because 20th Century Fox, Universal and Fox TV have to dealt with as regarding rights and no one has yet been able to get their agreement to line up to either give permission or simply sign the characters over. It might be possible if only dealing with one company, and I wouldn't mind seeing it, but since Grace didn't leave with the Doctor, and Chang was effectively bought off, we're not actually missing anything, their story is done.

I want to hear more from Fitz. I certainly wouldn't say no to more audios with Fitz I haven't actually got to Fitz's introduction yet in the EDA novels (I've just started reading The Face Eater, so I'm only one book away?), but I thoroughly enjoyed Fitz's Story, and the character seems really interesting from the wiki/extracts I've read. Matt Di Angelo had great chemistry with McGann and really sold the idea of a roguish (and slighty lazy) larger than life Cockney, and I like the idea of a long term male companion/best mate for the Eighth Doctor (not that I have an issue with his current companions, Liv is great and Helen seems like she could be a interesting character) who acts as something of a reluctant foil to his eccentric wonderlust. Isn't Fitz 8's longest serving Companion? (well, ignoring Lucy and the 600 years on Orbis I suppose)

I'm still on the fence if I'm excited or annoyed by the specials rumour...I actually think another 'gap year' could be a good thing for New Who in the long run, and if Moffat is tied up with Sherlock, part of me prefers less episodes of a higher quality/frequency, rather than Moffat feeling obliged to deliver a split or pushed back series later in the year...I personally felt the gap year of Tennant specials was hit and miss, and if we have another spaced out, uneven set of specials I'm worried they would find it hard to carry the momentum over to Series 10. If the specials rumour does turn out to be true, I think a 2 Doctors style story with Capaldi and McGann crossing paths randomly would be a fun change of pace (you never know, Moffat's clearly a McGann fan and the explosion on the internet/ petition that 35,000+ signed after Night Of The Doctor may have got someone on the production staff thinking...) they've worked together before, and as character actors of a similar age (but very different doctors) I think they'd have great chemistry, dosen't need to be an epic, just a one off episode that happens to have 2 doctors... If it were me writing it I'd go for broke-tie it in with the 50th Anniversary of The Cybermen, and introduce Todd and Rita mentioned in Mary's Story (I've always interpreted the Older Doctor's list of names as being chronological, recalling past companions from 'better times' (i.e Todd and Rita being his last companions prior to the time war, with Mary's story being something of a tribute to 8's timeline, and new companions for 8 bringing alot of freedom for writers and interest for viewers, I think it would be a fun nod for 8 fans, and help close up McGann's largely untold timeline just a little (i.e we see his beginning's in the TV Movie, his end in NOTD, and how he acts as a confident experienced man before the time war destroys him)...a fan can dream...

Agreed, whilst I liked Grace and Chang (didn't Grace appear in a comic?) in the TV Movie (and I'd certainly be interested in a hypothetical audio with them), the TV Movie didn't really give the actors alot to work with, and doesn't really leave Grace's story open to a follow up unfortunately. Though it would certainly be fun to hear Grace and/or Chnage make a return, if only out of a sense of nostalgia...

Doesn't mean they can't get the rights for it for a one-off release. Not impossible but improbable, from memory of podcasts gone BF looked into it and it's not a flyer, Universal are just not interested in doing a deal. Maybe if they could get them to falsely believe that Doctor Who is a 'ratings disaster', they might be less keen to hold onto Grace Holloway.

Yeah but just because they can't get the rights now doesn't mean they wouldn't be able to next year.

From memory, which could be wrong, the issue is one about the size of the deal, for Universal the effort involved in signing a deal is not worth it for the return, those two characters represent such a minute amount of their licensable property it's just not something Universal are interested in.

20 years eh?
I'd love a one-off reunion with the 8th Doctor, Grace, Chang Lee and the Master. Or Ruth and Charlie if they can't get the characters.

Personally I would find it more interesting for the Eighth Doctor to meet Ruth and Charlie than for Big Finish to contrive a re-Union with the characters from the TV movie.
I am sure he must have, but I cannot recall the Eighth Doctor working with UNIT before??

Well, he worked with the Brigadier in Minuet in Hell. Of course, you may prefer to forget that.

That has nothing to do with the TV Movie beyond the 8th Doctor happening to be the main Doctor featured in the TV Movie though.

Well, and Ruth and Charlie being played by two of the stars of the TV Movie.

To be honest, as long as it's Paul McGann, Daphne Ashbrook and Yee Jee Tso I wouldn't mind at all, i'd hate to think that Big Finish would have to jump through hoops to try and get two characters that somebody else owns. Saying that, they could still ask, you never know.

Yeah, but they'd still be reuniting the cast of the TV Movie.

Yeah, but they'd still be reuniting the cast of the TV Movie. You may as well get Paul McGann to play a completely different character as well then. Hell, perhaps they could cast Eric Roberts as a character other than the Master too?

Hell, perhaps they could cast Eric Roberts as a character other than the Master too? Well, that's more or less what they did for Zagreus. I would prefer for Grace and Lee to come back, but if that isn't possible, I would be happy to hear from the Vault team.

I loved zagreus so I would be very happy if they celebrate the 20th anniversary of the TV movie with something similar with just mcgann companions
