Another variation on the theme music.

Now I did like this but I kind of knew where it was going from the off.
Interesting though is probably because of the time its set there's not the usual moral ambiguity attached to the outcome you know what's coming and this time they deserve it.

I would grant the good Doctor S that it seems a little bit not quite right to not have the season finale with one of the main Torchwood characters, but this story made a very good impression on me in spite of that (plus we have impending full-cast Torchwood to compensate us for any absence of those characters here). I almost think having Jack pop up might have distracted from how well this story is able to stand on its own, I suppose much like I think the Charlie's Angels nod might have distracted from some other worthy new characters and storytelling in The Doll House. (Personally, I don't think I'd mind hearing more from the new characters in either story, but particularly this latest one). Hopefully for those who find themselves wishing for the occasional story about other branches and other eras of Torchwood, this will prove a rewarding story that's appropriately character-focused for an introduction. I also think it was natural for this to seem a bit in the direction of spy story just given its setting, but it does transcend that - usually one of the last things I want to hear is another "Ve haf vays" story (nothing against the first million I've glimpsed while walking past the TV) but I think Lizzie's written such a good story here that somehow I don't seem to mind it having those tendencies, and I think that in itself says some very some good things about this story. (Possibly I'm slightly biased here because I think everything she has done for Big Finish is outstanding).

I LOVED this story. I'm one of those that likes hearing stories from other times in Torchwood, and I thought this was great. The performances were riveting and I would love to hear more stories from this era in Torchwood.

I quite liked that. Nice little tale. Would love to hear more from this time period. The story didn't really contain any twists I didn't see coming, but was well done nonetheless. Another variation on the theme music. I love it when they do that

The thing that I like about releases such as this one, and the 1970s LA set installment, is that the focus of the series....the main character if you will, is Torchwood itself. It doesn't need to feature Jack or Gwen or any of the others. Torchwood and it history with its adventures & misadventures through the decades is plenty interesting. And if the box sets continue, if Aliens Among Us leads into a series 6 box set and features all the regulars, well, then I would be very happy with the balance.

A strange way to end a run of stories - set in a time different than we are used to, and featuring no regular cast members. Not that I'm complaining, because this story is brilliant! A change of pace and style for Torchwood audios, proving that there are no in-house limitations to this range, no style it cannot break out of and no rules it cannot break. I am a big fan of Lizzie Hopley's writing. Her two Dark Shadows stories are excellent, and so is this. Intriguing, thought-provoking and the characters are very well written for. Things are helped by some tremendous performances here. Mark Elstob proves he's just as good at playing the aggressor as he has been playing the victim in The Prisoner, and all the appreciative words about Simon Russell Beale are absolutely true. This is a grim, enjoyable, compelling and unexpected way to end this latest run of excellent stories. I'm certainly no expert on Torchwood, never having been completely won over by the television series, but these audios are teaching me what I might have missed

Simon Russell Beale was great certainly hope this isn't the last we hear of him at Big Finish
I did agree with one review with no regulars it doesn't feel very Torchwood like but I love the setting that this took place in so I still highly enjoyed this story. I even like that the supernatural aspect wasn't revealed till the end. I think whether I get more stories like this would definitely depend on the historical setting. Some like this one would definitely hold more interest for me than others.

I love that this range lets them play around with Torchwood and Torchwood-related stories set in other time periods than our own, and this one was no exception.
Occupied Paris is just a wonderful setting for a grim story, and the omnipresent threat of the Nazis hangs over every minute of this release to great effect. I'm glad that this was able to be treated with the seriousness that TW can do but DW often shies away from.
This was a good solid release, all around. The acting was universally excellent, the pacing and plotting was deliberate and built beautifully, and the sound design and music were pitch perfect. I would be happy to see any and everyone involved in this story return for another.

What a coup to get Simon Russell Beale in a Torchwood. The man is a living icon of theatre, one of the true greats. Anyone wanting to check out some of his audio work - get the BBC Le Carre adaptations where he plays George Smiley. They're just fantastic. I can totally see some Smiley from his performance in this Torchwood.

The performances were riveting and I would love to hear more stories from this era in Torchwood. Just finished this on the way in to work. I thought it was absolutely brilliant. I really would love to hear more of the adventures of M LeDuc, Madame Berber, and Gabriel. I knew Herr Grau would come to a sticky end somehow, but I had no idea whether any of the other characters were going to make it out of the story. Too bad that the next story is not until March. They are selling a bundle of 19-24 already so there are TBA plans in the works.

Really enjoyed it. The John Wayne reference seemed off though.

I would have hated this story if it weren't for the ending. Found the interrogation very depressing and unpleasant, and I'm especially sensitive about the time period covered, in the wake of recent news developments in the US. I just don't want to hear about Nazis, SS, and that whole terrible period of history right now.
The ending, however, saved the story for me. It was brilliant.

Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about the subject matter when I put it on to listen, or maybe I would have waited, also.
