Just throwing in my 2 cents....I HATE the boxset idea. There are so many boxsets. I love the novelty knowing that I'm going to get a new classic Doctor story every month. It makes my week, and it's so different than how they release the rest of their product. Especially now that even the 4DAs are in boxes. And I really do believe that if they do the boxset of the MR it will be the end of 4x 25 min episodes. I would hate to have everything BF does end up being the same format.

Am I missing something with the main range and boxes.......
i thought it was all sorted....or did I dream it
but I thought that the trilogy’s were to continue as downloads monthly but the cd’s were to only be released as a box of 3 with a cd of the short trip and released at the end of the trilogy
i have no idea where I got this from but it’s old news and not buying cd’s thought it had happened........
so what’s happened, I am a bit behind things, when’s main range ending.......that’s really sad news.......bit gutted

I like the monthly slice of Who, too. It's enough of a story length to feel like a classic era one while not being as sprawling and lengthy as a boxset. I'd miss the 2CD set 13 times a year format. However...as we keep saying it's a changing world in terms of what consumers want and what they want to pay for. BF know their numbers and if the future of Doctor Who at Big Finish is more viable in boxset form than monthly double discs..so be it. Nothing will be changing for years yet and so many other things could change before then anyway that I won't waste too much energy getting worked up now.

We don't know what plans are being discussed but there's no way we're getting 12 boxes of stories featuring the Fifth/Sixth/Seventh Doctor each year! I wouldn't put it past them... Big Finish: we love boxsets.

Big Finish: we love boxsets. Well... I suppose if they had a single story each month and dragged it out to fill a four CD box-set each month...

Though people don't believe it the work to getting Early Benny DL rights is "constantly Ongoing" Kind of overlooked this in the box set kerfuffle. But the minute they accomplish this, I will finally take the plunge on more Benny. Fingers crossed.

"Oh no not again!"
I'd missed this, but enjoyed reading all your comments. For me, as long as the (other) Three Doctors all want to go on working with BF, the MR should stay just as it is. I've only been on board for 1/5 of the run and it's true that when I started it did look an imposing back catalogue - but the sight of all that history didn't intimidate me, it looked so exciting! Gradually, I learned a bit about the arcs and Companions and began to pick my way through the delights on offer - the Five/Peri/Erimem stories, wonderful Evelyn and Sixie, Seven and Ace and Hex - and also began a slow and erratically scheduled attempt to fill in the gaps by taking the whole lot in order.
And of course I jumped on trilogies that looked (and were) amazing - Sixie and Jamie for one. I have so much left to explore in the MR and that still excites me. I enjoy shorter stories such as in the various box sets and it's OK in the MR as an occasional novelty but for the TV classic Doctors there seems something right about a four-parter, cliff-hangers, music and all.
If BF really really really need to change things for economic reasons - maybe to keep CDs available - I guess it would be OK if they moved to quarterly sets of three stories, 3 four-parters in a bumper pack of 6CDs? But with the EAs now down to two a year and the 3DAs still on two (stories) a year, I wouldn't want fewer stories from the original trio of Doctors - such as a quarterly set of two stories would mean.
Much as I'm enjoying the various Eighth Doctor sets and new series releases and spin-offs, none of this would have happened without Doctors Five, Six and Seven 20 years ago. I hope we get at least three full-length stories a year from each of them (plus an unpredictable lucky 13th release) for as long as possible.

Little off the cuff mention in the E-Mails regarding number of episodes and length of stories for the MRs from 2021 (they may be longer for story reasons that will be revealed in time.)

Nick pretty much confirming that there will be more Missy box sets and that we will probably getting more Rufus Hound as the Monk quite possibly in the Time War.

I still don't know what to think of OcTomBaker. It's just damned odd.
