The MR will transmogrify to make the overall buying experience "Frictionless" They'll keep the 4x25 minute structure If people don't like the changes they might change back I am really trying to figure out what they mean by that. I cannot really remember a time where my "buying experience" caused a lot of friction. Even that one time there was an error with paypal, Big Finish went completely overboard with customer service and I got the money back before I even had a chance to ask.
And they are not totally committed to the change it seems if they keep all options open... not sure if that is the right strategy?
Time will tell.

Exactly they keep hinting at change without saying what it will be. Plus its apparently meant to make the buying less daunting Surely the buying experience is based on 2 things 1 Dose it feature characters you like 2. Can you afford it Regards mark687

The latest Vortex justifies the move to Download as being environmentally conscious, but personally I consider those in my collection to be the physical releases, whilst downloads are just 'data' for conveniently portable listening. Harder to keep and little more than a folder of files on the hard drive, which has its own lifespan and fragility. They are part of the computer and not an actual entity in themselves.

Again oddly Media Type (CD/DL) isn't being mentioned, it just keeps being said "There will be changes" the bit about "Frictionless" buying process was new. It has to be firmed up soon with every passing month more and more customers won't be able to do Pre Order Subs Regards mark687

The environmental argument against the plastic in CDs is bit of a odd one really. I'd say a very high percentage of people who buy CDs collect and keep them. They are not going to end up in landfill like a coke bottle.

Pick and choose and get the lukewarm releases on offer if and when (DL fine for them). Not sure what is problematic for the subscription model. A list of orders ready to go for every release each month. Perhaps they wish to streamline the pricing structure to to avoid a balance sheet showing items retailed at discount simultaneously to full price. Seems a case of if it ain't broke, but then again I don't know what their accounts are like. I suspect that too many like myself have built up significant collections through big discounts and the bean counters have told them how much they lose out in the long run through their fan oriented generosity.

Also, with CDs it's only ever Nick who really goes on about the short term nature of them. Both Jason and David are huge fans of the physical format and St at a BFD a couple of years back Jason said there will always be a physical option even if it is limited print runs.

No matter how nick try’s to dress things up........the main range worked for 20 years changing it is a way to force more sales and give less like quietly dropping the bonus short trips
If they need to charge more, just do so......stop buggering about.......I don’t want any more box sets, ranges that go nowhere, collections or other ways to extract more money for less product
And as to the plastic issue.......let’s worry about the packaging issue first before we try and destroy the products........

Because something works for 20 years doesn't mean it will continue to work for another 20. Or another 20 days. Things change. Circumstances change. Buying habits change. The market changes. Of course BF wants to grow sales. They are a business. And you base them dropping Short Trips bonuses on what exactly?

I'm pretty certain the buying experience is not quite that simple for most folks. Please elaborate. I am curious. Are we talking first time buyer who pays their first visit to the BF web site, clicks on Main/Monthly Range and is greeted by 275 potential releases featuring 4 different Doctors and a plethora of companions, many of which are exclusive to Big Finish?

I thought maybe they would add some auditory cues, like bells and whistles to the checkout button....

Are we talking first time buyer who pays their first visit to the BF web site, clicks on Main/Monthly Range Explain? How will they get that far? More seriously: It's under audiobooks so they will have to open that tab and end up clicking through the Doctor breakdowns...and see almost nothing. Because for the 5th-7th Doctors, that section is made up of the two that were once called Specials and Bonus Releases. For their actual adventures, you need to look at Collections. But only for 5-7. For the others — for their actual (read: full-cast) adventures — you want audiobooks. Collections has everything their character appears in — full-cast, Jacob Dudman readings, little-more-than-cameos. Everything.

I only find what I am looking for because I know it is there somewhere and go looking. I rarely get straight to what I am looking for these days without the search facility or looking through the excessive drop down menus. Hate to be retrograde but the old website was far more user friendly.
